Jaguar did not break out F Type numbers when reporting for the US for April 2014, but did note in its global sales number report for April that their 30% YOY growth was in part driven by F Type sales. Whatever the April numbers showed, sales are probably meeting Jaguar's expectations. This was never going to be a high volume car. It is, more likely, a higher profit per unit car.

For the US, the car sold an average of 262 F Types per month through 3/31, not a million miles away from the average for the months it was on sale in 2013. Summer and the F Type Coupe will boost sales from this point on.

From JLR's press release:

"Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) on Monday reported a 30 per cent increase in global sales at 37,171 units in April.

The company's sales were up 72 per cent in the China region, 19 per cent in North America, 25 per cent in Asia Pacific and 27 per cent in Europe, it said in a statement.

"April sales continue the positive momentum we saw in the first quarter of 2014. Alongside the F-Type, all three Range Rover models delivered record April sales performances reflecting the global appeal of our strongest ever vehicle line up," JLR Group sales operations director Andy Goss said.

Jaguar sold 5,511 vehicles April, up 17 per cent year-on -year, with a strong performance from the F-Type, the company said."

That is 45% off the average.

So yes. That is a lot of volatility.
Haha, I counted the wrong number of months! Sue me!

There have been other threads on this forum from last summer saying how slow F-Types have been selling. And that was when the car was literally brand new and it was peak time for buying convertibles. Taking that into account with the extremely heavy discounts, the picture I'm getting is that the headline is not sensationalized.

And more to the point, isn't the real story that it seems that the car you might reasonably have expected to be the slower seller, the V8S, is the one that isn't on the list?

and, of course, that the usual non F Type owning trolls continue to only post in the threads where they think they can take a pop at the car.

Might be the case, or might not be.
I just don't know yet, and its fun to speculate.
But in my part I'll believe the world is flat when the math proves it :-)

I think the v8 supercharged top dog model is the one buyers will go for. I'm the the v6 models are great too although while shopping around I saw quite a few v6 models loaded with options that priced them very close to the 92 grand v8 s.

That's a lot of money.....and many brands are having a tough time moving the metal without subsidies.

Porsche is doing it. Viper sales are in the toilet. The new c7 corvette although not as pretty as the new jaguar is a hell of a value with regards to performance, luxury, residual and price.

I'm traditionally a corvette buyer although the new jaguar f type v8 s has peaked my interest for my wife.

Still...the jaguar f type v8 is pricey..so it's a slow decision for me.

Eventually I ll test drive one and decide.

I'm sure I'm not alone and I do congratulate those who took delivery on such a passionate design.
