little overview of what’s available, should be exactly the same as the torque app

a bit clunky to set up, you can see in the video the new item doesn’t go to the block designated for some reason

water temp does reach middle (car) around 70c on the gauge, makes sense for being a dummy gauge (car).

Got the hang of it, one parameter at a time.

Doesn’t look like oil pressure is available either, is it the car or the app/gauge, seems like a weird stat to be left out.
confirmed no pressure sending unit in the f type, madness!
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f-type-x152-72/can-guy-get-oil-pressure-gauge-213227/

Also my cat temp is in the 500c(900f +)plus range in just a few minutes of driving? Car was parked for 5 hours, but not stone cold.

Default Takes about 20 mins for engine to warm up to steady-state temp

From my last drive, where I started the car in the morning for the first time that day. Engine oil temp (in Celcius) was 21 degrees at start. It took about 20 mins to get the engine to 97 degrees, where it mostly remained. This was all in comfort mode driving in my local town.

seems about right, coolant flow is closed before a certain temp but oil keeps flowing and getting cooled.

i have always used coolant temp as an indicator for engine readiness, until recently i read somewhere oil heats up slower than coolant.

I think it’s safe to say the engine is ready for redline 10 minutes after the coolant has reached operating temp, probably 15 minutes or more if we are relying on in car gauge only.

Most of my trips are well over by the time this happens ;(

another observation is the transmission temp hovers around 70c for light driving, and quickly reaches ~90c pulling hard.

oh and the cat easily reaches north of 1400f(7xx c) for me, so i guess that’s normal operating temp.

it’s pretty hard to wrap my mind around the fact there is something this hot inch away from my feet, do steel glow at this temp?

Pretty much what I found and reported in #12 above.

yes; one of the things I like to do is to take narrative (it takes 20 mins to get the engine warm) and add data to back it up. Trust and verify

anyone know the pid for the rear diff temp? I’m requesting the manufacturer to add support for it, so far they have been very helpful!

never mind, i found it, thanks @Cambo !

So, the unit is now permanently mounted and rear diff temp has been added successfully alone with oil volume etc that didn’t come out of the box, love the lay out, conveniently the adjacent pages can be configured to have their own custom values so I’m not confined with the 9 box view.

Also wanted to mount a camera in front of the display for data recording, sadly the endoscope camera i have has a lightning connector and i have no way to run it for now, should work great though once set up!

While everything else are working perfectly, the boost and map values are showing impossible figures, 5-55psi were shown on map, and boost showed -20 to -5 inhg, neither of them checks out, if they did, I’m either secretly running a 1500hp F type, or my supercharger is pumping out instead of sucking in air.

The oil volume does not make sense either, attached photo shows a fully warmed up car with 7.2(or 7.5?) liter of cold oil, the figures do not check out wether they were shown in US gal out British Gal.

Contacting manufacture tech support to sort these things out, figured i might ask here if anyone has the .ini file for these values for the f type? That’s what the manufacture sent me to update the device, the formula i asked them to add was taken from a post by @Cambo , and is attached below.

I don’t have the .ini file, but I love your setup. Here’s what I did with mine:
(I wasn’t actually going 158mph in the photo. The values went wacko after shutting off the engine &#128514

Thanks for the pic! So your oil vol registered 7.1 L max, higher than mine but still lower than the supposed 7.25 to 8 L that’s supposed to be in the car cold, depending on dry or cold fill, I’m also assuming your 7.1L is a warmed up engine?

Is there something wrong or it’s something else?

My boost/map issue has been addressed too, turned out it was a conversion error on the pod, once switched to “kpa x 100” everything checked out beautifully, manufacture has been very responsive and working on the solution with me.

I’m loving the set up too, no phone or blue tooth to mess about, it’s there every time i drive, and doesn’t drain the battery at all leaving it plugged in all the time.

One of the few purchases from China that’s 100% true to the ad and no “oh…” moments.

Of there’s anything I’m missing, it’d be the data recording/high low value, without these, some of the values are pointless and dangerous when driving on the 9 10ths.

Yeah, the cold engine registers close to 7 liters for oil volume. Once it’s warmed up, it’s usually around 5.8 liters. From what I understand, that’s normal to see it drop like that.

I’m dealing with a few other issues now, but once I get those resolved I’ll switch back over to making this a better setup. I like the packaging of the unit you bought from China. Glad that turned out ok!

alright, that makes sense now, i will check the cold value tomorrow to confirm.

If you want the unit lemme know, make sure you get the +version, some vendors on ali is still selling the older version.

So the oil vol was correct, but it’s reading the same data as the car’s dash, so the usual procedure of checking the oil still applies, like flat ground, turn the car off and wait for the oil to drain back into the pan etc.

checking when the engine is hot and operating is still technically accurate, but only for that specific moment.
