I prefer the right tool for the job.
In the case of my F-Type, that job is exclusively to be an almost daily, street driver, which I use to commute a fairly lengthy distance, as well as a fun, top-down, beautiful-day cruiser. If I were to purchase another 500HP car right now, it would be a C7 Z06, which is more capable with regard to high-speed duties.
Up until a couple of years ago, I simultaneously owned a 500+HP Z06, a nearly 500HP 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra SC exact replica, and a lightweight Lotus Elise. There was a time and place for each. For carving corners, the Lotus was actually my favorite fun drive of all time.

What is it with you V6 guys? You have to come out and put down the other model, you all do it. And sorry, you do not get to come back after putting down my choice and say "but I said to each their own"... you don't get to slap somebody and say sorry at the same time and think that somehow neutralizes it ... you did not choose the superior model, just "a" model .... inferiority much?
You definitely should not dish out when it upsets you when in turn somebody calls you out ...

In the now infamous words of Rodney King; "Can't we all just get along?"

Personally I wish Jaguar didn't make the 6. To me it lowers the price of entry too much and causes a loss of exclusivity.
I really respect Mercedes for making the AMG-GT a V8 only car.

It would have been utter stupidity, but perhaps deserving of respect in some quarters. One only need to look at the lesson Porsche has taught the industry to understand that sporty cars must come in multiple levels of performance to be economically viable, unless you just want to be a niche manufacturer like Ferrari. Daimler-Benz also understands that as well.

Buy the 6 speed if you want exclusivity.

Porsche is one of the most profitable niche car manufacturers there is. They almost bought VAG and got tricked internally by family members (Piech) who was the CEO of VAG at that time which extended them financially too far and in turn where swallowed by VAG.
Porsche is the epidemy of not changing their cars despite of what others do. There will always be a flat six in a 911. No 4 or 8 cylinder. They offer "other" models at more reasonable prices and different engine options but they do not dilute the 911.

So one of his reasons to buy a V6 is because it is "quieter"?
One of your reasons for the V6 was because it is "lighter"? Some 150lbs per Jaguar posted data, which is barely more than the difference between a full and empty tank.
The better tool for the job?
All I did was point out that neither argument is true, not just an opinion but purely false.
The V6 is not quieter, it cannot because at any given speed it will turn higher rpm than the V8 and will spend more time in higher rpms because of the lack of HP and torque while dealing with the almost identical mass. It does not handle better or is quicker under any situation because again it carries the same weight.
He makes a point, I counter, he claims I complain too much, I respond to that and you must chime in, .... hmmmm where did I see that before and why am I the one being pointed out to not play nice ....
I have never put the V6 down. I correct you guys when you make a point against the V8 to justify your purchase for the V6. As I said before if you genuinely bought a V6 because you wanted a V6, maybe because of E-type tradition or whatever, I congratulate you, enjoy the car.
If you come to justify your V6 purchase with some magical weight and handling advantage or because the car is quieter I will call the bs out .... and yes you put the V8 choice down with that argument as if the V6 is somehow the "better" choice.
The phoniest part about this is of course that on the other hand the argument that the V6 is cheaper is completely rejected .... noooo, I bought the V6 because it is quieter and lighter and handles better and is quicker on the twisties and back roads .... the more "reasonable" choice, the true sports car, nobody needs more excitement ...

Alrighty then . . . Your reading skills certainly seem to fail you at times. I have never said the the V6 was a better choice, and neither did RJ. I said it was the better choice for me. I've also said I was "over" 500HP daily-drivers--done it enough times. I very much like the V8 and am impressed by it. I just don't want one.
You've implied that people only buy the V6 because that's all they can afford. That's both incredibly insulting and ludicrous. I could purchase a Ferrari or a 911 GT-3. I just don't want one.
You also jumped all over people trying to tell you that that only the first service visit was free, and that the 14-15 F-Type warranty was not 5/60, until you bothered to read your window sticker.
I could go on, but it's just easier to ignore from now on. I'm committed to doing that.

Close it. I hate all this bickering between certain posters. May be they'll think twice the next time....
