2016 F-Type R Convertible - about to leap
Looking at a 2016, clean background and low miles. I think the 2017 had an upgrade to the infotainment. I assume the main features are the 2016, but performance was of the unit was enhanced. Assume the apps for remote start, etc. are 2016 capable and that the incontrol subscription can be extended after the 5 year period?Anything else changed on the R worth moving to a 2017 (and the associated increase in price)?

Nice car. But just be aware that buying a used Jaguar sounds good, but accept that it will cost significantly in the future. So it is probably better to buy new and benefit from their extended warranty.
But my experience fwiw: Had a Low coolant light at about 15,000 miles, and I thought that I could smell glycol. I stopped in at one Jag dealer and they said, it's low coolant. Contraction of coolant on a "cold"? LOL ie 60F Florida day and topped off the coolant. A couple of weeks later I got the same Low Coolant light and again I thought that I detected a glycol smell. But this time I took it in to my regular dealer and they found a leak.
Replaced water pump, seal, tube, pipe-outlet, tube, thermostat, gasket, gasket, antifreeze, hose, reservoir bleed hose, vacuum refill, plus labor of course @ $165/hour. Fortunately it was covered by warranty, but I can only imagine what that Low Coolant repair would have cost me.
Pretty pathetic really for a $110K car to need that sort of repair at 15,000 miles.. plus other too many to mention. My wife's Palisade and previous Sorrento were/are bullet proof. Never go into the shop. Even my 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS has no issues whatsoever, other than needing tires!
But I love my F type in spite of all that, an awesome beast, and just accept that it'll certainly cost me greatly now that it's out of warranty
Just some empirical data for you to consider, and be forewarned.
Hope this helps

Debating between a loaded (orig. $90K MSRP) 2013 Boxster S and the 2016 F-Type R vert....
I know, way different cars, but actually not THAT far apart on used market. On paper, the Jag blows the Boxster S away in power (HP, etc.) as well as killer looks. Although the more toss-able Porsche is about $10K less, not sure I would stare at it everyday the way the F-type seems to do. The Boxster look has grown on me, but it in the end the price of exclusivity and unbridled power is a huge draw. First world problems....

- I guess that the better pipes are available for retrofit?
- Are these upgraded cars are MY2018 (new bumper, new headlights, new seats), or are they earlier models?

This is not a warranty item but a "technical bulletin", like a recall and they are required to fix it for free. Will not cost you anything. Call your service adisor and give him the TB# and he can tell you if it is for your vehicle, I would say yes because it goes from 2014 onward and the vin# is "K00001"

my understanding is that recalls are done for free because they are a safety concern. Tb's on the other hand are fixes dealing for known problems but don't necessarily put a driver in an unsafe situation and dealers can charge for this (out of warranty specifically). I'll have to call my local dealership to find out but would like to hear from those who are out of warranty. this probably deserves a separate thread...I'll look into doing that if I don't see a thread about it already.

By 2017 you mean MY2017 cars? Because my SVR is a MY2017 but it was manufactured in mid 2016
