2016 F Type R Convertible Wreck Assessment
Hello Everyone, long time lurker of the forum here. I have been the owner for the past couple years of a 2016 F Type R convertible CPO (25k miles currently). The other night I had a collision with a 50cc scooter on a bridge, the scooter at night time was traveling at 20mph (25mph under the speed limit) and at the very top of the bridge I came up on the scooter and struck it while I was going the speed limit. The scooter driver is recovering well and the police recognized that the scooter was not meant to be on that bridge.
A few notes,
My airbags did not deploy, I did not get any error messages inside my vehicle, my tire was undamaged, and my vehicle was still drive-able just dragging the debris along the road. The only damaged part of the vehicle appears to be the front right.
The car is being relocated to a very reputable jaguar certified repair shop.
Based on you guys' experience how bad do you think the damage is and how costly might the repairs be?
Thank you, I read through many of the other wreck related posts on this forum to get an idea.

Ouch, very sorry to see this. Hope you are both doing OK and scooter driver recovering.
I am somewhat surprised yours wasn't towed from the site.
I hope I am wrong, but I think this will be very expensive. It likely depends on how much damage there might be which may not be visible. From what is visible, you're going to need quite a lot of parts: grille surround, the grille itself, a front bumper replacement, front splitter replacements, new RHS light which isn't cheap.
Also I see the hood is curled in the corner. I don't know if they can fix that without replacing entire hood. Hood I believe is somewhere around $3000.
There's probably at least 15 or so parts here that need to be replaced, at least.
Hopefully there isn't frame damage.
Honestly from what I can tell I would expect something like $15,000 for parts & labor on this. Potentially $20.

No doubt in Oz that would be a write off, not so sure how it works in Florida but it would expect your insurance assessor will say it's a write off.
That may not be all bad news though as the agreed pay out could well be above current market value for that model and year.
The hard part will be finding another with the spec you want.

Speaking from first hand knowledge: the police allowed him to drive his car from the scene because it cuts down about an hour of paperwork. You should follow up with the officer to make sure the scooter driver is cited for driving it where not permitted ( or you will be in civil court down the road getting bent over) your insurance company will make the claim always in their favor unless your prepared to fight. In order to total loss the car the parts and material must be close to 75% of market value.
good luck and glad everyone is okay

Thanks all of you for the feedback.
I have made an insurance claim and due to the quality of my plan, every cost of this accident will be covered in full. In Florida, insurance providers must repair the vehicle, so long as the repair costs do not exceed 80 percent of market value.
The driver of the scooter so happens to be a personal friend of mine in this freak scenario, and is being released from the hospital.
My main purpose of this post was to read some feedback on the damage to better understand what the repair costs could get up to. I definitely plan on sharing the future outcome on this thread as well.
Thanks all!

The repair won't be at all cheap. From the little we can see, I agree with the $15-$20k range. But, certainly less than the 80%. In addition to the advice about using a good shop and genuine parts, be prepared to do battle with the insurance company about diminished value. Unfortunately, your car, even properly repaired, is worth thousands less than it was last week. For a major repair, it might be a 20% hit. The insurance company will not volunteer to make up the difference and likely will fight you all along the way. Go ahead and track down a good appraiser who will document the value / loss. That portion of the claim is cash in your pocket and you may need it on the back end.
