Tonight, I installed the temporary Stage 1 VAP tune on my 2017 V6s, 380HP to 416HP, no other mods. There is a noticeable improvement in high RPM torque. I suspect this is where the extra HP comes from. Why the car did not have this to begin with, and started to fall flat over 5000RPM, is anybody's guess. But the difference made the engine's torque curve "correct", with a nice pull to redline. It won't rip the tires loose in 2nd gear or any of those types of antics, but it's now even more fun to drive with the wider torque curve.

I purchased the upper and lower pulleys during the Thanksgiving sale, but won't have time to install time for a bit. So

I have commented on this before but the jump in performance and "seat of the pants" feel of stage 2 (lower pulley and tune) over stage 1 is yuge, much more than you would guess going from 416 HP to 450 HP compared with going from 380 HP to 416 HP. I would also guess that going to stage 3 (upper pulley as well = 475 HP) adds another dimension. You will also notice a lot more SC whine going from stage 1 to stage 2, dunno if or how much extra SC whine stage 3 gives over stage 2 but I suspect little or none.
I reckon the stage 2 bump is mainly about the torque and not the HP and not just the increase in maximum torque but where the increase is, right from 2,000 rpm onwards, and the resultant improvement in throttle response.

I do have the lower and upper pulleys. Just no time to install them.

But back to the OP, the Stage 1 tune is absolutely worth it on a 380HP V6, with a nice improvement in power, so it's even more so on a 340HP version.

Yup, my Dad has a 400 Sport, and if VAP has a copy of that tune available it can be flashed to instead of the 416hp tune if you wanted to stick with a factory tune.
That factory tune has been perfectly happy with repeated track outings, and I wouldn't imagine 16hp would be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Unlocking its natural performance through a remap is the most straight forward performance mod you can do, provided that you're out of warranty or don't mind voiding an existing warranty.

I had the same engine in an XF before my F-Type. That engine also had 340 hp stock and I ran it remapped to about 415 hp during three years without any issues. There's loads of more info on this topic to search around and you'll find more input.
Who did you get your remap from?
