And as this car is new to you, I advise you most strongly to charge the battery fully. You would not believe the number of seemingly unrelated issues that comedown solely to one thing: a battery not fully charged and/or a battery reaching the end of its service life.
Miraculously, charging the battery cures instantly 98% of these issues…and it can be anything: touchscreen, seats, windows, multiple warning lights and yes, possibly the fuel level.
Battery first!

I have a 2017 Premium, but 6 speed. Just today I filled it, or thought I did, but the gauge showed only 3/4. Dollar wise it looked like it was full These cars have historically had issues with tripping the gas pump handle due to 'blow back from the gas going in the tank. If you hold the trigger to put the gas in and not just use the lock, you may be able to get more in. Sometimes that gas blow back has shut off the pump a few times before I get the nozzle inserted in such a way to get the gas going in peacefully. Here's a link to more Forum discussion:

Drove it home and it still stuck at 3/8ths.
The drive home was around 40 miles.

That seems like a reasonable place to start. Planning on taking it back to dealer Wednesday to address a few minor items. Gas door also doesn’t open when you push it. Have to use a credit card in the crack to pop it open.

Our prior XF would do that as would my last Maserati, which is super annoying

I owned a Nissan 370Z and a wonky fuel gauge was a known issue and regular topic on the discussion forum for that model. The cure was to add some Marvel Mystery Oil in the recommended dosage to the fuel tank. Apparently the MMO acted as a mild solvent and freed up the floats or fuel level sensor by the time the tank was about empty again. After that I could go 4 or 5 tanks full with the gauge acting normally and then once again the gauge wouldn't read full. Another treatment of MMO fixed it. It was like that the whole time I owned the car.
So along with some Techron in the tank, you might try some MMO. It is fairly inexpensive. Follow the dosage instructions of the label.

Yes a fuel cleaner with high levels of PEA can sometimes free up a fuel sender. I also use Techron once in a while.
These guys talk about it if you want some background?
PEA Fuel Additive

Actually, I paid through the nose for the extended warranty. So, it’s supposed to go back today and I guess we will see how it shakes out. They also have a blue R dynamic which is probably the one I should have bought. It had a far better interior. That being said, I think I like these in white more than any other color which is not something I can say about most cars.
