2018 F-Type phone navigation question
What am I doing wrong?
I’m sure this has been answered, but I’m a 2018 400 Sport owner, and my phone navigation “mutes” when I’m in my F-type. I understand I don’t have Carplay and I’m not expecting the map to appear on the screen, but I’m hoping to at least get either the phone to verbalize the direction through the car speaker (using the Bluetooth) or through the phone’s speaker at the very least.
Phone calls and text messages do appear on the infotainment unit and play through the speakers with Bluetooth and I do get audible navigation if I use the Jaguar’s built-in obsolete satnav… but for some reason, the phone goes entirely quiet when I use the phone navigation.
In my old BMW, phone calls come through Bluetooth, and navigation comes through the phone’s speaker.

We have noticed the same thing when using WAZE navigation on the phone...
The volume on the application is very low when in the car. In our cars without Bluetooth you can hear the spoken directions, easily.
Didn't think about this until I arrived home but what would happen if we un-paired the phone with the car, just as a diagnostic?

Just to post a follow up… as there has been a solution to the issue. Turns out to be the phone’s application issue after all. Both Google Maps and Apple Maps worked through the Jaguar speaker in a more predictable form. Waze approaches navigation a bit differently as it normally:
In a recent update, Waze allows you to permanently set the default of where the sound plays through… including “as a Bluetooth phone call” or “through the phone’s speaker”. Set to the latter, it now works as described, even when I plug in the USB cable.
Now, the only thing missing is CarPlay…

Whenever WAZE 'speaks', the dash says "phone call' then 'phone call ended'.
...even when it just ding-dongs me for going over my preset over-the-limit speed.
