2018 Jaguar F Type Loud Screeching Noise
Hey guys, just got my 2018 Jaguar F Type back from the dealership after being in the shop for 50+ days. The car is making a loud screeching/whining noise when driven 80+ (video attached). A lot of different mechanics tried to figure it out. It used to start around 75mph but is now starting around 85mph. Any ideas?

For us to give our opinions we’ll need your model specs. A longer video would be helpful, what was your car in the dealer for, this also would also help with a diagnoses. in short all the information you have including mileage and previous issues. This forum is a great source of information when all information is offered up in the beginning.

I listened to the video a few times and I can't tell anything. It's really short and the background noise is pretty loud.
We're flying nearly blind here. A few questions:
Does the noise change with speed (other than starting at a certain speed)? That is, does the pitch or volume change as you continue going faster?
Does it change with load? If you lift off the accelerator and coast does it go away?
Can you tell anything about which direction it's coming from? Have you had a passenger in the car to help locate it?

I unfortunately can’t submit a longer one, won’t let me on the site. I had it in the Jaguar dealership for 50+ days and they were able to replicate it and couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. It doesn’t start until I hit right around 80mph, I can coast at 80 and it’ll keep going until I let off the gas, but when I do it stops almost immediately. Go back up to 78-85, starts again.

One little test you can try is to get it up to the speed where the noise starts then change down one then two gears ie from 8th to 7th then to 6th while keeping the speed the same, and listen for any change in the noise.
This may (or may not) point to a transmission related problem.

I dropped it off at the dealership again today (3.13.2022) to see if they can do something about it.
For context the noise began after I had my rear brakes serviced by the dealership.
Prior to dropping the car off I had the car ~30mph higher than where the noise currently begins, and there was no noise.
Since having my brakes serviced the noise is there and at varying in the speed it shows up at.
After the dealership failed to sort it the first time the noise appeared at ~133, after their latest attempt it's closer to ~144 (Initially it was right at ~140).
I wasn't sure if the cause were caused by component speed or something related to aerodynamics (a bent heat shield or the like), but since you are experiencing a similar sound, I think it is some component speed rather than aero related. I'll pass your video along to the dealership's service manager, and if they are able to sort my noise, I will post back here.
Out of curiosity what service did the dealer perform on your car before the whine started?
For reference my car is a 2016 F-type R with just under 40K on the clock.
