2019 Vantage

Get ready for gigantic maintenance bills. AM makes a beautiful car at an expensive price only to really kill its owners with service and parts costs that would bankrupt small countries. I love AM but the Jag is a much better buy pound for pound. Also I’d never consider the Vantage unless it was the V12.
But as the OP noted it’s just my set of opinions……..

Fantastic looking car IMO depending on the colour, unfortunately the 4 litre v8 destroyed the epic soundtrack (can be modded which results in it having the AMG soundtrack), but then you can get it in a manual which pretty much makes up for that loss and might be a little more reliable (they were in the previous gen). Infotainment is dated benz tech instead of dated volvo tech from previous gen, but then comparing it to dated Jag tech I dont think there are any winners there.
My opinion - if it was in a manual, it would be a move upward in driver engagement, if you had the auto personally I'd stick with a Jag but I've become a manual tragic in my old age.

Personally I consider the new Vantage, together with the whole "new" Aston lineup as a massive step back. AM was my favorite brand of all time, super cool, timeless, kind of ignoring trends and doing things their way. Now it is very trendy, overdesigned, turbos... And the Vantage is the worst, the front is FUGLY and the back looks like a Porsche. Interior horrible. Nothing special. I would rather get older v12, that has some ***** and style. To be fair, I have not driven it, just from a design and image perspective.

This member did the switch and hasn't been back since. His comment was the build quality was much better but that was to be expected at the price point:

I was not a fan of the color choice he picked, but the recent Vantage is a great car.

I was looking at Vantages before buying the F-Type R. Had a 2009 and put 50,000+ miles on it in 5 years, and still miss it. I just couldn't find the right car at the right price (this market certainly didn't help). I didn't order one because they are supposed to do a refresh on it next year.
The cost is going to be higher, primarily the yearly maintenance and extended warranty costs. But its a much more "special" car. Not to mention the fact that Jaguar service is just bad. When I see people saying they have a problem with the car and the earliest they can bring the car in is over 2 months away, or I have a check engine light come one and the earliest I can get an appointed is two weeks away (and no loaner), its just not acceptable. From experience, Jaguar service is worse than Aston, worse than McLaren, and worse than Chevy,
I got the F-type because I stumbled across a perfect car at a "not too inflated price" and was fed up with this car market. There's a good chance a Vantage will end up replacing this F-Type at some point.
Side note, I don't like the original new Vantage nose either. There is a new design that became an option for 2021 which is nicer and there an aftermarket version which looks good too.

For those (which are many) who don't like the stock current generation Vantage mouth:

The previous generation Vantage I have always thought was one of the best looking car designs in history. There is nothing about the current generation that imho is as attractive. Not any view, not the side profile, not the rear, and certainly not the horrible front. Having said that, Aston still has a lure to it, the roar of their engines, an available manual transmission (which is fortunate as their autos have been previously considered the worst in the car industry), and an air about them that makes them exclusive. So I understand the attraction though I would not do it.
