2020 Jaguar F-Type Ghost Tour
Many of you who know me know I've hosted a gathering of F-Type Owners since 2016 in the Great State of Maine. I've now hosted a total of 5 events; 3 of which were listed on this Forum with the last 2 being invitation only.
The primary reason why it's been invitation only is simply due to the fact that there's a limit to how many cars and, more to the point, people the places we visit can accommodate. It's hard enough bringing the size group we are over the years to the places we go--never mind to the State of Maine during the extremely busy tourist seasons--but, one way or another, we manage.
And really that is due to the relationships I have with most, if not all, of the people and places we've gone. Needless to say I am extremely grateful.
It is in that vein that I wish to give a shout-out to the places we plan on going to--especially now during these most extraordinary times; with businesses struggling to survive--for an upcoming event which I have planned for this fall. The event was presented and sent to past attendees and within a very short period of time was "sold out", not that anything is being sold. Quite the contrary as some on this list are actually helping to sponsor it. I won't get into who is doing what but suffice to say if even one more person, directly or indirectly, from this Forum--through the reading of this thread and/or clicking on a link--"pays it forward" it will be worth it. Call it word-of-mouth advertising and a deep appreciation to each and every one listed***.
A comprehensive write up, no doubt with photos--and, at the very least, a "thank you and gratitude" thread by me--will follow after the conclusion of the event which hopefully will take place as planned. There's also the possibility that I might have to change something along the way (which I already have), but the primary sponsors have already indicated to me their desire to follow through with their enthusiastic endorsement (in spite of my letting them know, particularly now and as recently as last night, that I do not want them to feel obligated in the least) and for that I am, we are, grateful and appreciative. I do hope that all Forum members, their families friends and business associates, are doing as well as possible during this time. Not everything is as negative as it would appear--serious though this all is (take it from the father of an NYC ER Doctor)--and I prefer to see the many positives which will come from this. Including, in the very smallest of ways, this intended gathering and event.
Thank you,
Jay
***Just to be clear: This, as with all past events, is strictly not-for-profit. I not only do not get paid for any of us—or “those” clicks I am suggesting—I am usually out a few hundred bucks for each event due to...well...no need to go into that. Let’s just say it’s a very small price to pay for the joy, satisfaction, and memories I hope I bring to those in attendance. And please do NOT thank me. It’s not only my pleasure and honor hosting but it’s all about those in attendance and, really, the people and places we venture to.

Possible Opening?
I received an e-mail late today from one of our esteemed “members”, attendees, and dear friends—from the North (i.e. Canada)—stating that due to unforeseen circumstances (not the least of which is the uncertainty regarding travel between the US and Canada) he is sadly unable to attend. I’m not surprised considering these most extraordinary times and we will all surely miss him.
His withdrawal means I might be able to accommodate one more car and up to 2 more people.
Barring some further and significant unforeseen circumstances—regardless of the number of participants (since there could be, and based on past experience, other potential drop-outs)—this event will take place as scheduled. The “good” news is Maine is faring quite well considering.
If anyone is interested in possibly attending, please PM me for more information.
Best regards,
Jay
P.S. As the saying goes...first come first served as I only have room for 1 more car (and up to 2 more people.)

Had lunch with RickyJay on Thursday, walking the Portland waterfront, while the XE was in for scheduled maintenance at Scarborough Jaguar. They were great, as usual - the car threw a code while they were test driving it (had seen that code once before), so I got a new camshaft position sensor.

While not a part of the 2020 Jaguar F-Type Ghost Tour, attendees of the 2018 Jaguar Wild Blueberry Blast will remember a rare and exclusive tour of one of the finest automobile collections in the world; courtesy of Bob Bahre who just passed away.
Part of my own personal tour; before the event.
Rarest of the rare!
The very definition of the word “iconic.”
Worth clicking on if you hadn’t already within the body of the story above:

What a wonderful and damaging collection that is. He was truly one of a kind and I feel so privileged to have seen it and been able to spend so much time looking at each vehicle. He was a giant in the Motorsport world and he will be truly missed. Thanks for letting us know Jay and thank you for arranging that visit that day. What a treat it was.

If you look closely at this stunning “picture postcard” you might count 14 F-Types at what is arguably the most visited and photographed lighthouse in the world. Plus...a police escort.
I have received two inquires about attending the upcoming 2020 Jaguar F-Type Ghost Tour—I’m not surprised only two given the uncertainty surrounding...well...everything—and while both people were enthusiastically interested, the dates (Oct 1-4) did not work for them. Which means we still have room for 1 car and up to 2 people. I could entice you by mentioning some of the surprises in store but I’m not about to do that. The events I have hosted have never been about quantity but quality.
Best regards,
Jay

Aboard the 88-foot schooner Wendameen from Portland Schooner Co. based in Portland, Maine. Built in East Boothbay, Maine in 1912 by famed yacht designer John Alden. Just one of the highlights which is to come for the 2020 Jaguar F-Type Ghost Tour; Oct 1-4, 2020. Lunch will be from The Cheese Iron, Scarborough, Maine.
The gentlemen above—as with the previous two Forum members who made an inquiry—is enthusiastically interested and suggests that barring something unforeseen (everything thus far in 2020 seems to be) he and his wife would like to attend. Having said that, he also stated that if someone else is able to “commit” to attending, that I should provide that spot to them. Just to be clear.

More to come...
