2021 front license plate removal???
Not much info on this forum about this front plate removal. It looks awful with the plate. Not sure who made this design decision but bad bad call. Should I try demanding the dealer find some way to take it off? It’s probably possible but they’re telling me it can’t be done. I know it’s probably a pain in the *** but how about a happy customer? I’d gladly even pay them extra for it. What’s the alternative? Find a cool cover plate ? I guess ...

I’m a salesperson at a dealership (first post!) and some of my techs were telling me the bumper needed to be removed to get off the new plate brackets. Wrong. Unscrew the main frame, there will be two further brackets on the left and right side. The middle of these brackets will have an outward facing screw. Back that out as much as you can with a set of pliers, and in the back you’ll feel a vertically set wing between the grills. Once that screw is backed out as far as you can take it from the front, continue to loosen it from behind the grill with your fingers. It will take a while, but eventually you can turn the vertical wing horizontal and take out the brackets. Ask me how I know.

I live in California where a front license plate is required. That being said, I have not had a front plate on my cars since 1982. I did receive a fix it ticket back in 2003 from an overzealous motorcycle officer, I think the fine was about $25.
When I place the order for my 2021 F Type after the first of the year I am going to have the salesperson write into the contract DO NOT INSTALL FRONT PLATE BRACKET OR PLATE. And they had better be able to follow instructions. I have seen far too many cars with damage to the front fascia from the somewhat common practice of dealers using sheet metal screws to attach the bracket to the plastic bumper, grill, or other body parts.
If I get a ticket at some point I'll buy one of the Sto and Sho brackets, it looks like a well engineered solution.

Along these lines.
I purchased a 2017 F-type from a state where a front license apparently was not required... (Pennsylvania)
And I now need a front plate frame for my home state (Vermont).
I appears to be a $50 e-bay item... joy... unless some one has a spare to share.

I dunno what you Yanks keep griping about, at least on a state by state basis you have the option to go without a front plate if you choose, and even if "caught" by the popo without one you get either a warning or a small fine.
Here in Oz a front plate is compulsory everywhere and you dare not go without one, the popo will pull you over quick smart and issue you with a humongous fine + many demerit points + possible seizure of your car + maybe even jail time, the offence is just that heinous. All in the name of "safety" of course, can't have any scofflaw evading speed cameras, dontcha know "speed kills"!

When I took delivery of my F type the dealer salesperson handed me a license plate bracket and said they would prefer not to install it. I live in MA which requires a front plate. I ended up with a Platypus by CravenSpeed. A little pricey but gets the plate off to the side and is easy to remove for track days.

I had a dealer tell me that all 2021 models F Types shipped to the USA are coming in from the factory with a front plate bracket already installed. If that is the case, I will follow JonnyM's instructions in Post # 4.
Does anyone have very recent experience to confirm that the plate bracket was on the car when received by the dealer ?

Sorry, I meant the plate holder. Reading the posts above, it looks like there are a pair of brackets attached to the grille and then a flat plastic plate holder screwed to the brackets that the actual steel license plate attaches to. From reading Tahoe Dave's and JonnyM's posts, the flat plastic plate comes off easily, but the two brackets need to have a bolt loosened from their rear to allow a clamping piece to rotate and clear the slots in the grille for removal.
