Awesome. I am glad that you are exploring all possibilities to work with your wheel chair situation. You definitely set the tone for optimism. I have a hard time getting in out of my FType convertible due to recent back surgery, L5 disc replacement, and hip surgery for torn labrum. I have to swing in and out of the car and despite pain, once I am planted behind the wheel and settled in the seat…everything else just fades aways, and I am in a happier place.

Have you been to any of the local Cars and Coffee in the DMV? South Riding Dunkin Donuts or new Tackett Mills in Woodbridge? Both are in Virginia. South riding is very Sunday from 0700 until whenever, and Tackets Mill is 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 0800 until whenever.

The difference listed in the vehicle specifications PDF I'm looking at between the 380PS V6 and the V8 is 113 to 132 pounds, depending on model. The 340PS V6 comes in even lighter, but that's probably mostly in trim, not the open diff.

I specifically compared the overall curb weight of the

2021 P380 R-Dynamic

That's a considerable difference; more than I expected. The PDF I had handy was from the first model year. I think it is a bit different than what my own owner's manual says, but I didn't check it. I had done the math at some point based on its specs to see what V8 adds over V6, AT over MT, and AWD over RWD. Did I save those notes? Probably somewhere ...

Thanks, man! I certainly have never had a lack of optimism! Kudos for bearing the pain for the love of the drive!

I've done a Cars and Coffee in VA once (can't recall the location) and it was a ton of fun! Took my BMW 335is there when I had it. So many cool cars and friendly people. I'll have to do it again now that the weather is getting warmer.

Viper, have you tried getting in and out of an F-type? It’s not an easy car to get out of. Having the roof down helps, if that’s an option.

Thanks for the heads up! I am fortunate enough to have full upper body functionality and I work out regularly, so at 42, I am still very capable but good looking out! ​​​​​​​

I'm sure you will work something out, but in particular the cars with the wide side sills are harder to get in and out of because you kind of have to stretch over them and then drop into the seat, so your centre of gravity is off, and the same on the way out. I had hurt one of my ankles, getting in and out of the car was quite challenging, though I try not to put my hands on the body if I can avoid it. But anyway, the point is that you might have an easier time of it with a car with no side skirts, or narrow ones (which look better IMHO).

Well, as it stands, the 2021 P380 R-Dynamic got sold. It was a great deal, so whoever snatched it up, congrats! I am going tomorrow to look at a black 2018 P400 coupe so since it has wide side sills, it'll be a good test. The car is gorgeous with great options, so I am very excited.

You can take the sills off, they stick out maybe 2 or 3 inches from the door sill so it does make a bit of difference.

P400 is a fantastic engine by the way, quite a bit more poke than the p380.

Checked out the 2018 400 sport tonight. Man, not gonna lie, I am pretty much in love with the car. Aging infotainment aside (although the screen was very responsive despite what I read and feared), the car is insanely fun to drive and the videos don't do the exhaust justice. The 400's extra bits and massive rotors really make it stand out. The deal is excellent and the trade-in of my C43 seems fair so I may have some news tomorrow, we shall see. The main thing is that my wheelchair fit completely into the trunk and I was able to fit it on the passenger seat (although it was tight, but doable).

Same rotors both front and rear as an R and same fronts as a P380 R-Dynamic (380 mm) and I suspect same rears too (376 mm) although the R-Dynamic might just have the weeny 326 mm rears like the old S did as stock.
Check the wear and condition of the tyres and brakes, especially if it's still on crappy P-Zeros.
Being a 2018 it may have only a little factory warranty left which could be good news as you can then tune it to 416/450/470 hp without any "have I voided the warranty" anxiety.

Actually, since the warranty only starts after the 1st title is issued, it has 32 months left since it was 1st sold/titles in mid-2019, which is unheard of for most 2018 models so while I'll have to wait longer to mod, it's a great deal to have a pretty long factory warranty for the price!
You're right about the rotor size being 380/376. They look amazing and felt very strong during the test drive. I checked the tires and the fronts are almost brand new and the rears don't have much life left. I am thinking new ones by winter, for sure. But my C43 needs all 4 tires, pads and rotors like now so trading it in saves me the trouble and the coin.

I had a 400 Sport for a couple of days while mine was getting serviced. It was the first time in an F-Type with an automatic since I bought my car, and I got more time than the test drives I'd done before. I really liked it. I'd pretty much decided on the F-Type and was in the process of convincing myself I'd be OK with an automatic. As it turns out, I would have been more than OK.

Well, it's been done! 2018 400 sport with 13,800 miles. I'll post another thread with more photos but thanks to all of you for your invaluable feedback! Just brought the new whip home and everything is a little surreal at the moment.

Be careful with this. Jaguar dealers (in the US) are famous for 'punching' the warranty the minute they take delivery of the car, regardless of when it is first sold or titled. JLR approves of this practice. Have your dealer tell you what warranty in-service date is listed in their computer system for your particular car, and have them give you a printout of it in writing. It may be much earlier than you think, especially if the car originally sat on a dealer's lot for a while. It doesn't matter what else is written down or what dates they told you--the only one that matters is what's in the computer (and it cannot be changed).

I called the 2 Jag dealers earlier today to confirm the remaining factory warranty and they both stated end of February 2024. Are you saying that I should get a printout of that for the peace of mind?
