Anyone out there have a clue to what is going on?

Meridian Surround allows for "the options for changing the dynamics, surround, stereo, dolby, etc".Seems you got a base Meridian (not surround) system

That's exactly why Meridian Surround is a deal-breaker option for me. It's barely acceptable for such an expensive car. The base system is not; at least not to me, and many others, like you. You can do some upgrades, but it'd cost more than getting the surround system, plus significant disassembly that could lead to future rattles, so not for me.

I am not an audiofile, so bear with me. But, I have coupe with maybe 4 feet front to back and and around 4.5 feet wide, can you really expect a whole of quality audio?
I have the base Meridian and I hear a some echo and reverberation, again I am NOT an audio expert. Just wondering if I am a little tone deaf, because to me, my system sounds good.

To an audiophile, which I humbly consider myself to be, any system that sounds good to you is a great system. How it sounds to you is the only thing that matters.

So long as the system is better than your ears, it's "good enough"!
I'm perfectly happy with the occasional times I use my 380W system via a USB stick.

F Type is not an ideal car for a musical audiophile for reasons that include audio system quality.
And yet... it is the car with the highest smiles/gallon!
Turn off the music, enjoy the drive and exhaust sound.
Just keep an eye open for those gawkers in nearby cars staring at your car, no longer paying attention to the road.

I agree with Good2BeBad and others.
The F-Type is a noisy car- exhaust and tires.
It is even noisier in vert., especially with the roof down.
IMO, to even get close to audiophile music you need one on those old road yachts fitted with a turntable and big speakers!!

I remember spending all kinds of money when in college for a top of the line audio system that would probably sound like absolute garbage today. If you've been spoiled by a state-of-the-art sound system in another vehicle, well, that's a shame because I agree with many here who feel that even the base system is pretty darn good.

It seems to me that complaining about the quality of the audio system in an F-type would be like telling your absolutely gorgeous 10+ girlfriend that she should be working out everyday [to maintain her perfect body] instead of taking a day off so she can spend more time with you.

You have to pick your battles in this life...

Good question! I'm also curious how much longer Jaguar will keep producing the F-Type before it inevitably gets discontinued. From what I've heard, they do plan to build 2024 model year cars. However, with the way supply chains and parts shortages have been, who knows if they'll actually be able to keep making them through all of 2024.

My guess is they'll keep taking orders as long as they can, but cut off production sometime in mid to late 2023. That way the last 2024 F-Types rolling off the line will likely be the final ones ever built.

If you're planning to get one, I'd keep a close eye on order banks and get yours in sooner than later. Don't want to miss the boat! It's sad we're seeing the last of this incredible sports car. Hopefully the rumored electric successor will carry on the spirit of the F-Type when it eventually launches.

Jaguar has already announced that 2024 is the last year of the F-Type as we know it.

Again, as stated in several comments above, there are 580 MY 23/24 currently for sale at dealerships around the US.

You can check availability here....

They probably started building MY24s around March of 2023.

And I REALLY want the surround stereo, and for what I read no '24s have it, so would have to find a '23. Or even a pristine used one, which I've never done, but there's always a first time. Ha ha. We'll see. I need to drive one first, so working on that as the first step.
I got a December delivery date slot last week.

Order for my 2024 F Type R was placed in December 2022. There were two allocations available in US that time, before official sales started in US.
Jag was manufactured in Feb 2023.
On March 25, 2023 I drove my Jag off the lot with a child-like smile across my face

I got an allocation recently but I'm in Canada. I put my down deposit about 5 months ago. The US had a big head start, the 2024 model just starting arriving on the Canadian Jaguar dealerships this past month. My delivery date is end of February 2024. With regards to the sound system, the dealership said the surround sound system wasn't available at first when I put down my deposit but after receiving my allocation I asked again and my order is now approved with the Meridian Surround Sound System.

Hey, she could always work out just while you work. The better analogy is an F-Type with a crappy sound system, would be like that 10+ GF without a leg. Ha ha. Anyway, will search again to see if I can find the car I want now. Wish me luck. Hope everybody had a great weekend.

Well, still no P450 RWD with tan/ebony interior fully loaded (all '24s are missing Meridian Surround, and the '23s with it, don't have heated/cooled seats), except a used BRG '22 with 4K miles, that surprisingly is listed with the new cars, and with the original MSRP. And it's in the boonies, over 2K miles away. I'm sure dealer will be asking for the moon, but will call tomorrow, to see if it could be an option if I don't find anything new.

@Good2BeBad any chance you could confirm the P/N on any of the Meridian Surround parts (amp would be easiest)? I'm looking into what adaptations I'd have to perform electronically if some/most of the components are already present.

Sorry, don't have the part number info.
Hopefully the thread below may be of help to you with what would it take to convert from base to surround sound system.
Believe the 2024 year models still have same sound system
