Thanks for posting this report.. it was a fun read.
I wonder what the price difference is between the Ferrari and the Jag? My assumption is that the Ferrari is a lot more and it appears to be a great car.
The Jag F.R. has been the best car that I have ever owned by a mile and I love driving it every chance I get.

Even used, the 458 (non Speciale) is about $300K, so easily 3x the price of the Jag R. As weird as it sounds, the Jaguar F-Type Coupe R is probably the best value right now. You just can't get the same level of performance + style + luxury + wow factor anywhere in the $100K range.
The C7 Z06 is not quite on the streets yet, but they can be ordered and will be delivered in a matter of months.

Shift,
Not sure I completely agree. JLR is still weighted down by reliability questions, and Corvette reliability has gotten pretty bullet-proof. The performance comparison is no contest. Even though the Corvette is a GM brand, it is built exclusively in one assembly plant where no other model is assembled and functionally considered by most enthusiasts as not so much a part of GM.
While the std. C7 is not all that exclusive, the C7 Z06 will be far more so. If past production numbers hold for the new generation, they'll only build 7-8K or so per year, and many of those now go overseas. If the F-Type stays in production as long as most Corvette generations do (9 years or so), they'll become considerably more common, but they're still rare because we're only talking about 1.5 years of production.
Now obviously, I'm an F-Type fan, and I chose the base model F-Type because I'm no longer interested in over-the-top performance in my nearly daily-driver. However, my C6 Z06 was one of the top 3 best cars I've ever owned.
