Default 32 MPG!

Today while heading to San Diego.

Also ran into traffic for ~5 miles, going from 0 mph to 10 mph.

My high was 32.8 mpg but after I floored the gas once for 2 or 3 seconds, my MPG dropped to 31.9 AVERAGE. LOL!!!

That's pretty good I have found out by topping off that the computer is a little optimistic by about 3-4 mpg. I did manage a true 27 mpg recently on a drive to Palm Springs recently but it was boring trying to see the best MPG that I could get

Readings like that are meaningless unless it's a cumulative average of 50-100 miles. The best I've ever seen for all highway mileage over 50 miles, driving conservatively and averaging 65-70, is 28 mpg. That's exactly what the window sticker claims.

It's on the 2016's. Under "widget". You can select something like Logo, music, or Trip details...

You won't find it on your car. New infotainment and center displays came on the 2016s.

70 mph is not the best speed to get MPG. Once you deploy the rear spoiler you're working against that extra drag. Window sticker is usually BS, just like the reading of 32 MPG. Regardless, it's amusing to see a readout of 30+ MPG on the R.

Not Quite 32, but here is my best over quite a long distance, and some decent average speeds...

Average speed over nearly 4 hours was 71 mph. There were a few triple digit blasts, and a few less than 50 sections...

I hope you plan on taking the new ride over the Tail of the Dragon or to Devils Triangle a few times. I'm quite jealous you live relatively close to such awesome roads!

I shall. A Beemer buddy just suggested that we take both cars and do it...I'm looking forward to it!

Yes, I'm also accustomed to not believing window sticker mileage ratings, but for my F-Type, the rating of 23 combined/28 highway is dead on the money.

My 60-mile, RT, daily commute is almost exactly half highway and half city. I did not reset my trip computer for 3K miles, and it was reading an average of 23.1 mpg over that lengthy distance. On a recent, 200-mile, RT, all-highway trip, I averaged 27.9 mpg. I've never seen better then 28 mpg on all-highway mileage.

Coming out of the east coast mountains (tall hills), I've have seen 35 mpg or better downhill all the way for 30 miles or so, then I go uphill, and it drops to the 28 average.

No BS here, just the facts. I record all my gas purchases and hand calculate all my MPGs; I have a Base Coupe. Here are all my tanks from new: 27.0, 30.5, 29.5, 29.4, 29.3, 30.5, 29.9. My driving is 80% highway, 10% city and 10% suburbs. I'm doing a little better than the EPA highway estimate.

Yes, you are. What's your average speed on the highway?

I haven't bothered manual calculating, just reporting what the trip computer says, so that could account for your better highway mileage as well.

Mostly it is cruising at 70 mph, except for passing when I hit 85+ quickly. City driving is Denver through streets, stop-and-go. Surburban driving is my home town, a small town, not much traffic. For purely highway driving I'd say I'm getting 30 MPG average, but I don't measure that, just the full tanks.
