It is definitely orange- based on my experience with the XKR I would wager it is coolant. I was expecting a lot more this morning in the bucket I put under it, so maybe it is just an overflow situation (not sure if that makes sense)
If I were you I'd check the coolant level, just to see how much it lost. If there is no fluid in the reservoir then you lost quite a bit. If it is way over Max then I suppose it is possible that is was just an overflow. You want to check the coolant regularly for a few weeks after they fix it anyway. Some pics below in case you need a pointer.
I also wonder about your coolant level. Doubt it's a cracked reservoir tank (you'd likely feel moisture on the tank's underside), though your pics certainly show a pretty (un)healthy leak. My bet is on a loose hose/hose fitting.
so the nice service department lady said to get familiar with the loaner (XJ) - apparently the radiator failed and needs to be replaced. first they have seen. bummer - ETA is 5 days :-(

Wow . . . that is a rare failure on a new car. However, parts are more likely to fail either when they are brand new or when they are old and worn out. It could also be as simple as a rock launched into it. The good news is a radiator replacement is rather simple and not something I'd ever worry about again.

Never would have suspected the radiator. At least, not at 83 miles....
