Active Exhaust

Active Exhaust
Hi everyone - newbie to the forum. Ive taken receipt of my new amazing F type base model a few months back (polaris white 20" wheels and black pack) and keeping my message short It didn't have the 'active exhaust' button on it. Now the sales person told me that the valves open at 4K rev etc and in sport/dynamic it makes a mighty noise but I just cant get over the fact I should have gone for the button (its a long story why) ... what can I do ? ive asked Jag and they say they do not retrofit and provide no options - is it possible ? please help ...

From a mechanical standpoint..its too cost prohibitive to retrofit an active exhaust system on to a car without it. You would need to source:
-Rear muffler assembly
-Vacuum lines
-Exhaust button
-And depending on the year you got; a vacuum pump.
-This doesn't include modifying the cars' configuration software files
-Rear muffler assembly
-Vacuum lines
-Exhaust button
-And depending on the year you got; a vacuum pump.

If doesn't have active exhaust, the base exhaust system is almost as loud as the active exhaust with the valves open (doesn't sound like this is the case).

On my 2014 V6S, with active exhaust but not switchable active exhaust, the valves are not open all the time in Dynamic - depends on throttle, RPMs, etc. I can hear them slowly open when I put my foot down.
I can't keep track of what's standard/option/not available on base models, as it changes by year. But generally, active exhaust hasn't been standard on base models.

I know its apples and oranges but on some Mustangs without the fog lights, the harness is there.
I asked a service writer at my dealership. I don't remember them saying they can't or they won't.

There are 3 levels:
No active exhaust (no vacuum pump, no solenoid, no valves)
active exhaust (without the switch - what I have)
switchable active exhaust
For active exhaust without the switch, it's computer controlled, depending on throttle position, engine speed, etc. It's only on in dynamic mode.

My thoughts: It would seem kind of silly for Jaguar to make just a few mufflers without the plumbing for just those few cars that don't have the active exhaust (button). So I also think a switch and connecting it up and possibly doing something to the computer is all that's necessary. That's my guess.

Just look under the car. If you have the active exhaust, you will see the valves sticking out of the side of the two pipes just before the muffler.

At the risk of thread hijack, the pumped option appears to have an accumulator (pressure reservoir) as part of the pump assembly.
Does the option that runs off manifold vacuum do the same, or just run a pipe to the exhaust valves?
The e46 shopping car has an active exhaust that just runs off manifold vacuum with no electrical gubbins whatsoever.

Thanks for the helpful responses all. Its a 2017 purchase (in other words Ive had it about 5 months now straight from the garage) and I believe (least what they told me) is that I do have the active exhaust just not the switch to activate. In dynamic mode above 4K revs its sound beautiful Im assuming that with the switch even at low revs it sounds like that all the time ? is that correct ? surely it cant be that difficult to fit the switch but Jag were not playing ball.
