Default Active Exhaust

I have seen similar threads on this I am currently looking at purchasing an F type and pretty much all models within my budget do not have an active exhaust.
Now i have seen a few people mention that the base exhaust is loud all the time but i was wondering if anybody had a video or sound clip of a base exhaust so i could compare it?
I have been all over youtube and can not find a single clip of a base non active exhaust

thanks guys

I bet you most of the guys will agree that the active exhaust is useless as we would just like the active exhaust on all the time. Its the first button i press after the start button. If you are worried about the base exhaust being too quiet just look into an aftermarket exhaust like the quicksilver or Velocity AP.

The stock exhaust is much quieter on my 2017 base. When I upgraded to the active exhaust, it made a big difference. The pops no longer sound like speakers popping. I do wish I had the button for longer freeway drives because the active exhaust with the valves open drones a bit but I usually just turn up the stereo.

Everyone is different but I did not find the stock exhaust fitting for the F Type which is known for its exhaust note.

My active button was repurposed as a spousal switch. Always on when I'm alone, always off when she's riding with me. Yes...a very effective marital aid.

Wait - does the button mute the exhaust, or your wife?

I can confirm that the button works.
If the active exhaust is on (in loud mode) I get a constant whine from the passenger seat when SWMBO is present, one press of the button to select quiet mode and the whine disappears!

Ahh, the fellows with Active Exhausts, AND, a worthy marriage know how and when to use the terrific button. I searched long for her, not as long for a F with the button, but I love them both, and use them appropriately. I would not want to be without either.

Any way to actually test the functionality of the active exhaust? I hear mine squeak all the time, and it SEEMs like it makes a difference when closed. But not when in park or neutral and I rev it?

Hello folks,
I would appreciate some feedback for this question that no dealer seems to know. Just wondering if the 2018 F-type S actuators of the original active exhaust should open in dynamic mode, this without the exhaust button option mounted.
My S’s exhaust is not responding to this dynamic mode, only the gas pedal and gearbox change settings.
Anyone?
Cheers

Yes, you need to have the exhaust button fitted for the valves to open when dynamic is selected.

Always keep the engine over 4000 rpm to keep the valves open all the time. Works just as well as the switch .

Unplug valve behind left rear wheel. Just a few screws to get to it... Connect a resistor of same resistance as valve in its place. (measure the valve's resistance). Done. Loud always, no fault code.

Unfortunately it is impossible to retrofit the active exhaust button, my dealer tried. From the 2016 mod it is no longer configurable,.

No can do, tHe exhaust actuators pump is in the 2016 onwards located in the engine bay.
Thanks

Regardless of location of the pump/value, if it's the same setup, which it appears to be based on the diagrams, then it's the same method to defeat it.

But if it is in the engine bay, all that is required is to disconnect the vacuum line going to the actuators, and plug the source.

Either way, this is very simple mod for the OP to have it loud all he time, just like having the active button turned on.

.

My dealer mounted the button in my car, by activation nothing happens, the button is not recognized. In the 2013-2016 this wasn’t the case, the aftermarket mountings worked without any issues.
Cheers
