Air conditioning whining while accelerating

My 2017 F-Type produces a whining, whirring noise as I accelerate while the air conditioning is running, with the noise getting louder the higher the RPMs go. After a while, the noise dies down, even at lower speeds, but I can't tell if it's a certain speed that I've reached or a certain amount of time. The noise will disappear entirely when the AC is shut off.
It's difficult to describe the sound itself, but the best way I can describe it is the sound of an electric car motor. I can try to get a video of it, but I'm not sure it would come across well in a recording.
I can't tell if this is normal functionality or if I've got something wrong with my car specifically.
Thanks!

...could also be an idler or tension bearing on the serpentine belt that drives the compressor. The extra resistance of driving the compressor makes it audible.
Belt should be removed and idlers should be checked for sluggish operation, or wobble. Belt tracking should also be investigated.
It everything checks out, turn up the radio!
