Default Air intake box(s) Filter replacement?

So how exactly does one go about switching out the air intake filters on the V8 coupe? Where are they? Do you have to come at it from underneath? My K&N filters arrived today, something I do for all my vehicles but in the dark out in the driveway I was feeling a little stumped.

Take the front wheels off, remove the inner wheel liner and you will find the filter boxes. Not too hard, but ridiculous really for a service item.

An Aston Martin of a previous generation required the removal of the superchargers in order to change the spark plugs.

Jeez, seriously? OK, well I guess I will wait for my new wheels to get here before tackling that, might as well do it all at the same time :-/

Thank you for the info!

Hey, it could be worse. On Ford SuperDuty diesel pickup trucks, you have to take the entire cab off for almost any kind of engine work.

Beware of the K&N or any other oil soaked filtration. They are great for track days when you want a freer airflow and another 1-2 horses, but they do not contain as fine a particulate as the OEM paper or fibrous filters. Over the long haul, this will cause premature ring and cylinder wear. For the periodic track day, no issue. Air Filter Filtration Test - Bob is the Oil Guy - Bob is the Oil Guy

On a Land Rover Discovery 3/4 (LR3/4), you have to take the whole body off for some jobs. Fortunately it is easier than it sounds, being monocoque bolted to ladder chassis, although not insignificant.

I had not known of this until recently either, but had ring failure after 120K miles as a result of exclusive K&N use. Wouldn't be an issue for those leasing, but if you plan on adopting a car as a permanent family member, it will be an issue down the road.

I've had K&N installed all my previous cars including Z4 coupe, FR-S, Ferrari F355 and Highlander. I installed the K&N in the Highlander in the first week I bought it and is still going strong 10 years and 120K miles and doesn't burn oil or show any signs of compression issues. The main thing is not to over-oil the K&N filter so you don't mess up the MAFs with oil contamination.
