What is "temperature sensitivity?" I didn't find any such thing in the climate menu.

I'm guessing xfactor is talking about the range within which the temperature is allowed to drift. For example, set the temp at 72, ac goes on until temp drops to 70, turns off and then goes back on once temp rises back to 74. the narrower the range, the more sensitive. you don't want it too sensitive, otherwise system is constantly cycling from ac to heat. I know of no car system that allows you to set the sensitivity (and very few home systems). Fairly common, though for commercial HVAC systems.

Thanks, would have guessed it was something like that, and couldn't imagine why that would be included as a feature on a car HVAC system--especially on a car that doesn't have a locking fuel door.

Note: Temp sensitivity feature is only available in North America. They've disabled it in other markets.

OK, but it isn't on my car.

Sorry, was being sarcastic about the fuel lock cap and North America. Not sure if there are different options for the climate system or if it's a 2015 thing only? But it's definitely there in my car.

Do you have the dual zone option?

No, and good thinking--that's probably it. Nonetheless, it seems like a completely useless feature.

Temp sensitivity seems like a good idea. Although in practical I haven't changed the setting in the 6 months I've had the car, so in that sense I guess it has been useless to me.

Could you send a picture of what you're talking about?? This is important in light of the fact that Jaguar tells its dealers that the F-Type climate system can normally range within 5 degrees....its peculiar ... even my dealer thought so.

I'll take a pic tonight...but I've actually never used it (left it on the default medium) so I have no idea if it actually works as intended.

I suppose in principle, it does. However, if I'm too hot, I turn the dial down a notch or two, or vice-versa. I maybe burn an extra .25 calories a day on that activity.

Default Vent Issue: not coming up all the way

Hey Guys,

First thanks for the help when I was scoping out used f-types.

Now that I have a well cared for 2014 F-type S with about 48k miles, I'm dealing with a central vent issue where it gets stuck on half way up half way, or stuck half way on the way down. This happens a large enough percent of time that I plan to take it to dealer. Anyone have comments on what it costs to fix at a dealer.

The car is a dream otherwise.

All the best,

Christopher

That was typical on the 2014. Mine raised fine, but I'd have to push it to go back down. There was a TSB for that, and my dealer fixed it the first time it was in for service. Works perfectly now. No idea what you'd have to pay for that, too bad it wasn't fixed under warranty.

I encountered this issue as well. Sticking halfway up or down intermittently. Fortunately it was fixed under warranty. Looking at my invoice it looks like they replaced that vent assembly, part # T2R17443PAJ and "reprogrammed the module". List price on that part appears to be about 300 but your dealer may mark it up more. Assuming you got the part from the dealership and had them do it my best guesstimate would be 450-600 dollars. I'm basing that on guessing it's 1-2 hours of labor but I don't have any record of what they'd actually bill out for labor on the replacement. You could save a little sourcing the part yourself I would imagine.

I recently had mine looked at by the dealer. They wanted $450 for the part and 2 hours of labor, so total bill would be about $800. Didn't do the service as I figure I can replace it myself.

Since the thread has resurfaced and I had no idea the menu existed either, here is a US photo...

There seems to be no way to turn off the center vent, only to keep it up sts.
