Default Alexa

Jaguar models in the UK and US with Pivi Pro or Touch Pro will be able to download an update to give them access to Alexa.

I thought it was already there. When I looked around in in my incontrol account the other week to enable Spotify I saw that Alexa also was an available option...

Didn't bother trying it out yet though. Does anyone know how this is supposed to work? Does it basically add voice control to the car?

Why anyone would want a continuously live mike connected to the internet in their life is beyond me.

+1…but it’s already been happening with our phones unfortunately.

Yeah, I never got the thing about these smart speakers either and it's beyond me how people can set that up in their homes. As said, sadly we should also consider our smartphones as live mikes connected to the internet.

I've had voice control in other Jags and it was a god send with the clunky system in the first gen XF but I never missed it in the F-Type because ICTP is so smooth to use.

Might give this Alexa app a try though just to see if it adds any value. 97% if the time I'm alone in the car and rarely have voice calls in the car so all a live mike would pick up would be my exhaust note and music. :P

We have an Alexa smart speaker in the garage.

Handy if you are laying under a car and want to know "what time is it?" Or if your hands are all greasy and you want to change the music station.

So this is how it's supposed to work

I don't care about stuff like remotely checking the car range using some other alexa device but if this adds good old voice controls in the car it may be worth checking out.
