Default For All of You Waiting for Delivery

Hi there,

just wanted to share the video on youtube which kept me going through the waiting period of 3 months. The song became a classic for me.

I must admit that watching it now is not the same as before delivery. The magic is gone, but the memories of the wait are still fresh with me. It has been a very intense summer this one, because of the waiting

(most of the views are obviously my replays)

All the best!

Can't bear to watch! I have almost two months to go! ETA 12/17 but now may be closer to 12/27.

Where did you hear the change in date? I was told 12/17 too.

Called the dealer last week. Nothing in writing yet. Have had terrible communication problems with them from day 1. My sales person is clueless so now directly contact the finance manager. When I placed my order on August 23rd they told me they had an allocation I would receive and I would have mid December delivery.

However, in September they seemed unsure about when delivery would be and I believe now that they did not have an allocation as they stated or they gave it to someone else. I don't believe my order was entered in August but not until September. In mid October, after several calls and emails, they told me the Build date was 11/7 and the ETA was 12/17. However, when I spoke to them last week and reminded them my lease is up on my BMW 12/27 they suggested I might extend my lease. They would never admit it would not be here by 12/15 (or apparently by 12/27)but it was obvious from their comment.

However, the reason I placed my order with this dealer (I had two other Jaguar dealers about the same distance from my house) in August was because they stated they had an allocation I could have and meeting the 12/27 date was no problem. I have no plans to extend my BMW lease. If the Jag does not arrive by 12/27 do you think I should push Jaguar to provide me a loaner until the car arrives as I only have the one car and they were informed of that fact when I placed the order?

From the way that dealer sounds, good luck getting them to make any consessions. You can ask for the loaner, but they will probably tell you they can't do it. The smaller volume Jag dealers in this part of the country don't have much going for them. I think that is why we are seeing the members in states like CA receiving their F-Type while we are still waiting. My order was placed before some of the members here but they have already received their car. Most likely because their dealer already had an order placed that could be amended.

My dealer seems to be under the impression that the date is usually conservative and sold cars come typically a little early if anything. They could be making this up, but what they told me is that the timing risk comes from whether the car gets on a boat quickly or ends up sitting at port. From a logistics perspective Jaguar prioritizes sold cars. So if your order is in the system as a sold customer order with your name on it, then Jaguar will now to express the shipping at the port.

My car should be completed production by 11/13. It should be at the port by 11/18.

If I am lucky my car will be on the Don Juan which leaves on the 22nd and arrives on December 5th. Alternatively I could be on the Resolve which leaves December 1st and arrives December 12th. if we miss that there is one on December 4th which arrives December 22nd, and one which leaves December 20th which arrives January 4th.

The Torino would get my car to dealer by 17th or earlier. The Don Juan would mean car arrives a week early.

Where did you obtain the ship information? Can you also see what ports they visit? I am assuming my car will come in thru Brunswick, GA or Jacksonville, FL.

Allocation of cars is based on purchase of other models. Small dealer gets less of small production models and large dealers get more and sooner. When I got my last mercedes the largest dealer in the country,Fletcher Jones, nabbed it in transit. My local dealer could not get exact same car!

Your car should be on the Don Juan based on your dates.

Thanks. If that is the case I will be so delighted to receive my car early!

The Don Juan interestingly was the same boat that delivered my M5 last year.

The VIN is "attached" to the production order and your car at the start of production. When the frame hits the assembly line.

Based on what info do you reach this conclusion?

Poster said car was to be finished production 11/13 and at port 11/18. That's enough time to get onboard for 11/22.

Key will be if it actually started production on time. After that, the next steps and dates pretty much follow a known timeline. However, **** does happen.

yes [sh]it does happen. my car was off the production line at the end of September, and did not leave Southampton port until 4 weeks later, on 10/27. So there are clearly some logistical kinks in the process.

That's a big delay, but at least it is now underway for you.

Another poster from a separate thread posted this timeline this morning.
His car sat at the Southampton Terminal for 9 days before being loaded on a vessel. And this timeline does not tell us what day that vessel actually left the port.

Do you have your VIN? Have you found which vessel your car is on?
