Great you got out of it OK without breaking a sweat - until later. I always assume that people may or may not stop at stop sign, may or may not turn when their turn signal is/isn't on, etc. They may be playing games on their cellphone.

Do not trust them to behave rationally.

The GT-R or crotch rocket however are only fun when you are constantly pushing the performance limits. Most do that on the street where all the other drivers on the road didn't sign off on that.

I guess it comes with being older and wiser, but I drive a lot safer now and take a lot less unnecessary risks. However if and when I am out somewhere by myself and I can push a car to its limits, stay out of jail, only take risks myself, I am still OK with driving like a spaz.
In my youth I used to do less intelligent things in both cars and on sport bikes. At 24, I did a track day at Laguna Seca and afterward I never rode at more that 80% on the street, and typically much less.

I now have the fastest car and sport bike that I've ever had (by a good margin on both) and yet I've rarely been over 120 mph in either, nor held a speed over 90 for longer than a few minutes. Don't need the hassle from law enforcement, nor do I need to end up in/on someone's windshield or in a ravine. I also limit the time I'm on the bike to minimize my exposure (Sunday afternoons during football season, dusk, holiday weekends).

About a year ago I tried to push an M6 off the road (figuratively, not literally) coming out of Palm Springs because I couldn't stand them holding me up and wasting the beautiful road in front of me. I rarely let the big cat run, but it feels really good when I do.
