Gettin' purdier!

If someone can tell me the size of the head of the screws I can countersink those.

I'll probably be tackling this job over the winter (preferred time for garage work in the south). I see that EuroAmp has a package with the aluminum cooling pipes and other pieces of the cooling system that are upgraded (https://euro-amp.com/products/jaguar...charged-engine). I know the supercharger will have to come off so I will need new intake gaskets (C2Z17249 for my V6). Is there anything else that will be needed outside of the intake gaskets and the EuroAmp package mentioned above? I saw a throttle body gasket mentioned above but are you really needing to remove the TB from the air charge cooler? Thanks everyone! Always ideal to order all the parts you need in advance and just don't want to miss anything and did not see the full EuroAmp package mentioned above that seems to have a lot of the upgraded components.

Removing the TB makes life easier for removing the supercharger. It's also one less thing to damage during removal and the gasket isn't expensive at £12 / $15.

I bought the full kit from EuroAmp - make sure everything is in the box when the order arrives. Mine was missing one of the tww water pump gaskets (AJ813609)

I'd consider purchasing the uprated alloy water pump connector. Google: C2Z18658 metal.

Thanks for the quick reply, MaxD. I will go ahead and get the TB gasket then if it does make life easier.

Don't think anyone already answered you, so here's what I have... the OEM screws are M6 x 1.00 x 30mm. The head is ~11.78mm wide and ~4.60mm tall

Thanks but too late, they were printed last week. I have three extras if anyone wants to pay shipping. I can't vouch for fit since they were made off a posted sketch someone else made.

I already fabricated my own from 8mm aluminum, but appreciate the offer.

Let's talk about how nasty cleaning aluminum is. Because my car is an '11, I have the aluminum cooling pipes, which seems like a great thing, but cleaning 11-year-old aluminum engine parts sucks. I may or may not have pre-cleaned them (and some of the other parts) about as well as I could with some drill brushes, and then rinsed them a few times in the dishwasher while my wife was out of town, but let's just say that it's a great thing that she never comes down to the basement. Plus, I also need to order new o-rings for those pipes, so if I'd thought about it prior, I probably would've just paid for new Euro-Amp pipes and called it a day.

Sort of 30,000 foot question. I am busy prepping to do this, and just wondered if any data out the exist for how often does this actually happen?

Does anyone know as it never made it to a recall and there must be a threshold for that. If it is say 3 or 5% that is bad but not 30%.

Just curious if any data are out there on this. Searched and it is "common" but common means different things.

No idea what the actual failure rate was, but it was high enough for Jaguar to redesign the parts.

Not sure if it is considered a safety issue (that would warrant a recall. Per the NHTSA:
"When Is a Recall Necessary? ›
When a motor vehicle or item of motor vehicle equipment (including tires) does not comply with a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. ›

When there is a safety-related defect in the vehicle or equipment. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards set minimum performance requirements for those parts of the vehicle that most affect its safe operation (brakes, tires, lighting, etc.) or that protect drivers and passengers from death or serious injury in the event of a crash (air bags, seat belts, car seats and booster seats, energy absorbing steering columns, motorcycle helmets, etc.). These Federal Standards are applicable to all vehicles and vehicle-related equipment manufactured or imported for sale in the United States (including U.S. territories) and certified for use on public roads and highways."

My gut tells me that the pipe design issue is not nearly as bad as it seems on the forums. However, I am looking into buying aluminum as well! My 2017 XE, sadly, has the old style pipes...

Has anyone had success in having the Jaguar dealer service install the aluminum pipes? Was wondering if they pushed back given they are not an OEM part.

A variation on 355rockit's question - I asked my dealer about replacing the plastic pipes with the new version. I have a certified warranty for another 18 months or so. Their response was that they (Jaguar) will not simply replace them, they have to fail first. Seems a ridiculous position for Jaguar to take. Is this the experience others have had or is my dealer blowing smoke?

Years ago, on a car with a rust warranty, the exterior paint started to bubble. (Obviously) the rust was beginning to form.

But the dealer (Chevy) wouldn't honor the warranty. Said it needed to rust THROUGH. Showed us how he shined a light through the area.

So, we waited a few months and poked a couple holes in the panel with an awl. They fixed it THEN.

Give them a nice Xylene/MEK rubdown, and you'll have your failure pretty quickly. Just keep your fingers crossed that they don't do any kind of forensics.

For all those who now want to jump in to tell me what a stupid and dangerous idea that is, I was completely joking. I would never cross my fingers.

My dealer quoted $2500 to replace the pipes with the upgraded version when they inspected the pipes during my maintenance service early this year. The pipes were fine and I opted to wait until next year. I am out of warranty anyway, but even under warranty they wouldn't replace unless it is leaking. I guess I need to find a good independent in North County San Diego. Anyone have a recommendation?

Thank you to Euro Amp for producing and supplying these (and at a competitive price point)

I just ordered two kits, one for the RS and one for the Sportbrake.

I just did a plastic overhaul on my RS and anticipate a similar process for the 3.0 in the wagon. Glad to have these for when that day comes.

Still need to install my Pierburg pump in the RS, so I might introduce these aluminum pipes at the same time since I will be opening up the system.
