Default TPMS to Height Sensors

XC-60 Recharge (it's a plug-in Hybrid, my wife loves it). The car came with all-season tires and I immediately swapped out for summer and winter rubber and had the summer wheels powder coated. Car is purple wrapped. According to the tires store, many new cars are losing the TPMS system in favor of height monitors which, apparently, are surprisingly accurate. I'll say this, I'm not missing the TPMS problems I had with her prior FX-35.

This is the XC-60 custom painted wheels and purple wrap.

Well you could get a set of sensors and have Discount Tire install them? I got 4 off EBay for around $30 when Discount Tire wanted to charge me $100+ for EACH sensor!!
Now you need to learn a bit about TPMS but it's not hard. My 2014 XJR uses the 315 MHz versions.

Cool car - that's a distinctive colour! I looked up the tire pressure system for interest - it measures rotational speed of the four wheels using the abs system. If a tyre is low pressure it will have to rotate a bit faster to keep up with the others. Good idea as it takes out all that extra sensors and receivers etc.

Although not sure what it thinks as weather gets cold and all four lose pressure at the same time

But - sounds less prone to reliability issues than the classic sensor based systems

Do not buy them from discount tire, they are crazy overpriced. Order them from tire rack at a fraction of the price and have dt install them. That’s what I did this summer.

Interesting to see how long that lasts in your neck of the woods. Here in Minnesota, Big O Tire, Discount Tire and Tires Plus all said they will not install TPMS sensors unless they're purchased from them.
