Default Ambient Lighting

Do all the F-Types come with this feature? Is it a cool feature & how does it work? Anyone with this feature please chime in.

There is a setting under extra features. It has ambient lighting. You can change it when not in dynamic mode. When you are in dynamic mode it can only be red, which is nice it matches the dash. Look in manual it has it.
Good luck.

Configurable lighting is standard in the V6-S and V8 models, and an option in the V6.

The ambient lighting is one of those features that is neat to show your friends, but that's it. Unless you really crank it up at night, in which case your car is peripherally highlighted (at the door handles mostly) in cool blue, hellish red...

Thanks for the link. It says no drilling or wiring. I don't think I've driven at night. Does this just replace an existing puddle light? I'm 8000 miles away from the car so I cannot look.

Replaces puddle light - the only mistake you can make installing is mounting them upside down as I did until I realized they can install either way. Make sure u install them the way I show the image in the second pic (the first pic is upside down). The image is supposed to face you as you open the door.

Five minutes back to stock of u grow tired or sell the car. Cool mod imo.

In one door on my car the wire is too short to rotate the entire lamp, but it's easy enough to rotate the projector inside the lamp by 180 degrees. Your estimate of time is very generous. With a spatula to pry the lamp from the bottom of the door (snap fit), it takes about 30 seconds per door.

My first set was garbage. The images were reversed, they were out of focus, and one of them burnt out within 24 hours. The EBAy vendor made good with a perfectly good replacement set. They are a bit gimmicky, so I may go back to stock. But they are kinda cool. (I'm so confused!)

Ask Doctor Jay:

Liz would not approve. And if your spousal unit is anything like her my bet is neither would she. That might not matter to you (nor me truth be told) and while I'm glad it makes some of the Forum members here happy, I too think they're a bit gimmicky.

Less is more Lance.

Best regards,
The Doctor

Actually I thought so too, but then saw all new Range Rovers have this stock. The image emits from the bottom of the mirrors. It's starting to become not a thing anymore.

By all means, if it - or anything on your car - makes you happy, that's all that counts; not my opinion. I was just coming to the aid of Lance who made it sound like he's not only Unhingd but confused/torn.

The Doctor has extended hours today as his dog had a run in of sorts with a skunk and my wife and I have been up since 1AM. Oh what fun!
