Default Annoying

Found something about my car that really p***es me off!

The nanny won't let me enter an address into the Nav while moving. I get that you shouldn't do it while driving but there is no reason why a passenger can't, as I was trying to do this morning.

Interesting, that is pretty annoying. I haven't actually tried it because 99% of the time I prefer to use Google Maps on my phone.

Isn't that pretty standard now on most all cars?

Strange. My '13 XF lets me enter while moving. Just have to "accept" the liability with a pop-up first.

Well this one makes you accept the disclaimer and then locks you out.

Might just be a SW bug in your machine.

Might have a play with the settings and see if it is selectable, but I doubt it is a bug, as it is very clear, buttons are greyed out when you are moving and become active when you are stopped.

Are you sure about that? Have you typed in an actual address using the keyboard while moving? I don't use the car nav often because Waze on my phone is light years superior. I think you can select a favorite or stored addressed, but I don't think it will let you type one in.

That also sounds very dangerous to me, and I've never actually tried that while in motion. That's far more awkward than texting and driving, which makes me crazy when I see others weaving and texting.

My wife was able to do it from the passenger seat while on the beltway to get us to Tyson's Galleria. I was willing to spend the day hunting around northern Virginia using the biblical method (seek and ye shall find) but she wanted to get on with the shopping.

+1 on your closing comment.

Maybe someone has to be sitting in the passenger seat for the keyboard to work.

Default passenger

I thought about lhoboys comment and I have only used nav with a passenger. I need to try this alone. ..

Is it possible that this is something specific to Australia models?

I can enter things on the fly if I choose to do so in my MY2016...

My 2014 nav system allows all types of entries while moving.

Same with my 15 mod R (For the German marked but imported second hand to Norway).

No problem entering destination while on the move.

Just tried driver only entry. It does work, but too distracting to be safe given location of screen and the virtual keyboard.

My 2015 R lets me enter NAV info, but only up to a certain speed then locks me out.

I tried today, going about 40-50mph, I was able to enter in the "number" (assuming it will let me do the rest as well). So it might be speed dependent, or country dependent. I did not have a passenger but did have my puppy in the passenger seat.

I haven't had any problems entering city, street, and/or house number while driving at freeway speeds. 2015 R

It may be that the sensor detecting a passenger is also what unlocks the moving entry. I am still waiting for my manual from the dealer, so I can't actually check it. Try with a passenger actually doing the entering when you're moving, see if that works.
