Anyone Dealing With Rattles?

The dealer tells me it is a window regulator that is currently on back-order.

Many rattles can be fixed by applying tape of some sort, eg felt tape, double sided tape, even the old favourite duct tape.
The trick is finding the real source/cause of the rattle as a lot of the time on a car the noise appears to come from a spot that is nowhere near the actual source.
On the F-Type I eliminated the common hatch cover rattle by wrapping the mounting pins/pegs in a few rounds of electrical insulation tape so that the slots in the cover fitted much more snugly over the pegs. That also prevents another common problem with the hatch cover - sliding so far to one side that it falls off the peg on the other side.
That was the only rattle I have had on the F-Type but on other cars including my XFR and XFS I fixed many rattles with felt tape or double sided tape - glovebox lids, centre console cubby lids, hush panels, speaker covers, window cables inside doors and so on.

Yep, my local JLR dealership did that early in the piece and it didn't help. So I ripped them out and applied the electrical tape instead, instant 100% fix and zero problems many years later.

Somewhere on the right/passenger side
An annoying tick, like a plastic pigtail rubbing/hitting against something. Might be under the seat..when a passenger's there, the sound is lessened. I stuffed some lengths of soft foam strips underneath, but that didn't end it. .. thought it was in the passenger visor/mirror, but that's not it either. I had a friend design a portable noise/sound detection system that has a tiny microphone, he has to fine tune it and hoping to have it useable by the end of June.

Update to above thread
Poking around and still trying to find the rattle. Had the hood open and noticed that on the right/passenger side of inside upper there is a round plastic disk, about 4 in in diameter. It's plastic and it was loose. It has two push fasteners so I pressed them and the disk tightened up. Will know on the next drive.

So true. But I can’t have the ONLY F-Type that has zero rattles (even on the very poor pavement of Victoria roads), can I? No rattles, a really excellent sound system, acceleration that is terrifying, crisp handling, panels with uniform and tight gaps, flawless finishing to the interior, a factory paint job that has zero orange peel and which looks like a green mirror….and I have pretty high standards.
It was actually great trip with no issues. Did I say I love the exhaust and stereo, pure awesomeness.

Nope, you are not the only one with rattles. On my long road trip yesterday…about 730 miles one way, I noticed that I had a stereo induced rattle around the passenger seat area when playing the music loud. At our next rest stop I moved the seat forward away from the rear as it was touching it, moved my cane off the seat and collapsed it and moved a few other items off the seat. Voila, no more bass induced rattles. The car exhaust and motor sounds, awesome, the upgraded Meridian stereo with DTS and two subs, also awesome, = pure bliss.

I have no rattles at all, had trunk cover noises initially, fixed that. Had a squeaking rear shock absorber - replaced under warrantee.
Now silent aside from the occasional squeaks from the seat belt rubbing in the seat when the temp/humidity is right for that - a wipe with some leather conditioner fixes that temporarily.
Speakers rattle of course if bass & volume turned up - so I dont do that .

Bass speaker rattle from the back is just poor JLR design. The speaker grills actually press against the rear ( pretend )subwoofer rolls and their mounting bracket so any louder bass will cause that annoying vibration sound . Could just have easily been designed to have a 1cm gap instead . Dynomatting the back or the grill and carpet surround doesn’t get rid of this. Other than leaving out the speaker grill from the carpet you are left with trying to create more of a gap with foam spacers appropriately place(hard to do well) or disconnecting the rear subs(no big loss) or not turning up your music. If you have a aftermarket subwoofer definitely disconnect the OEM subs. Can just remove some of the pins from the speaker connector so easily reversible. Dynomatting the doors is a no brainer ,very necessary if any rattles from there and still worth doing even if no rattles as tightens up the bass a lot . Dynomatting the rear not worth doing for rear speaker rattles as doesn’t address the cause.
