Anyone else have fuel pump noise?
Went in for first annual maintenance this week. Mostly just routine service, vehicle enhancement program (TSB fixes), and alignment. One issue I raised was a light rattle noise coming from the right/front engine bay. I noticed it after the first month of ownership, decided to wait until for first scheduled service. It's not loud, but definitely noticeable and will toggle on/off every few seconds. You can hear it outside the car. Most noticeable on cold start.
Had the shop foreman take a listen, and was told that this is the fuel pump cycling, and is considered "normal". He said to bring it back if the car does this after being warmed up, and they can run additional diagnostics to isolate the issue and take further action if needed.
Did a search on this forum and in the "known issues" thread and haven't seen one else reporting the issue. The car is a V6.
So... anyone else ever hear this sound on their cars? Appreciate any feedback one way or the other.
Thanks!

Updating this thread. The rattling noise became worse recently, noticeable with any application of the throttle. Made an appt to have both fuel pumps replaced under warranty and now problem solved.
Turns out this is a known issue, documented under TSB JTB00394NAS3 earlier this year:
Other than this minor issue, the car has been flawless.

NHTSA ID: 10096747

Situation: a metallic 'clicking' / 'rasping' noise may be evident from the engine is at idle speed and when the engine is cold. cause: this may be caused by a noisy high pressure fuel pump

Hey Ryan, not entirely sure. The part # for the fuel pump is C2Z31828. There are two of them, one for each cylinder bank. Both were replaced.
A search of the part # shows that it was used in the Supercharged V6 and V8 up to 2016.

I drive a V6 S MY 2018 and notice a wining sound ones the engine turns on idle after cold start.
Is this the sound you mentioned?

Well, now that you describe it as a buzzing heat shield, that may be what I hear. Used to happen around 1500RPM (thus my thought that it was a resonance.) Dealer said it was the active exhaust vacuum pump, and did I want them to disconnect it? (No thanks.)
Now I hear some sort of mechanical actuator right around 1000RPM. Was going to guess squeaking active exhaust valves, though don't know why they'd be opening/closing at 1000RPM.

Noise has now gone
Got my car fixed under warranty by the dealer. Apparently the fix involves running a pipe from the front of the car to the Vacuum solenoid and by-passing the old Vacuum pump in the rear of the car.
All quite (at least pump wise) for now and active exhaust still works fine.
