Anyone using Mobil 1 or Castrol Edge Extended?
Almost due for an oil change, seems pretty easy with the mitivac.
Now the cheap Dutchman in me doesn't want to pay for Castrol edge professional. Anyone using Mobile 1 or Castrol Edge Extended life? Hard to believe there is a meaningful difference. Castrol even states that the edge extended life is "the best synthetic oil you can buy"
On the other hand, warranty is up in 8 months, may need to suck it up for one more change...

True, $40-$50 isn't going to break the bank, but I still recall the taunting I received from the guys at my BMW tuner shop when they heard I actually bought the BMW bottled differential fluid for like $150.
Over the years I've become a skeptic of anything only available from an authorized dealer.

I'm a true believer that it won't make a noticeable difference. Its a joke buying branded oil, you're paying a premium for the name and not the additives included. As long as its a decent company, you're street car engine will be just fine IMO.
Additives have their place and are absolutely essential. But so much varies based on operating conditions, humidity, dust in the air, filtration quality, etc. etc. etc. that its impossible to have one oil be perfect in every situation. Outside of race oils for race cars, a standard oil from a name brand will be more than sufficient to protect your engine if properly maintained.
