Default anyway to disable to lock horn?

i know if you click lock once, it locks all the doors, press it a second time, and you will hear a 1990 honda civic horn to confirm its locked.

Anyway to disable this, or change it to the regular horn (when you press it on your steering wheel) at least that sounds somewhat normal

The superlock chirp is region specific and can be configured with the SDD or Pathfinder diagnostics software. A dealer can do this for you - expect to pay 1h labour - or you can do it yourself if you have the tools.

I don't know if there is a way to disable it without the software though. I don't recall seeing one mentioned before.

This doesn't answer your question, but we discussed alarm operation a while back. I believe there's a menu option related to double-locking, but no idea what it actually does.

There is no double lock on my 2016. Double lock is when you can't unlock from the inside. My BMW convertible had that feature so you could lock the doors with the top down. However, boot is double locked if the door is opened from the inside.

"Double locking" only sounds the horn (the one from Honda) to confirm the car is locked. Nothing else magically occurs.

I'm sure I found a setting which turns the double-lock beep off.
I know coz when I park up in the driveway at SWMBO's joint I always double-lock the car, and she used to give me hell over the beep, so I turned it off.
Give me a few shakes and I'll find out where it is.
Edit - found it.
Press the Menu/OK button on the steering wheel until you get the "Main Menu" screen showing between the speedo & the tacho.
Scroll down to "Vehicle Set-Up" (use the down button just below the Menu/OK button) and press Menu/OK.
Scroll down to "Audible Lock Warning" and uncheck the box via Menu/OK.
Done, no more annoying beep!

I thought double locking made sure the car knows to shut down power draws.

Yep, that is my understanding as well.
I always double-lock, even when the car is safely tucked up in my garage, as that lessens the draw on the battery and reduces the chances of a flat battery later on.

I do it with a diligent paranoia, as I had the dreaded dead battery one week after bringing the car home.

With the horn turned off it still makes a sound, a quite loud "clunk" as the door locks engage. I also have mine configured to auto fold the mirrors in when locking, which is both an audio (whirring electric motors) and visual signal that you have indeed locked the car.

Do your mirrors fold when you lock the car? If so, you can fold the mirrors manually by holding down both mirror buttons at the same time.

Yep.
Also, the auto fold on locking is another configurable option, you can turn it on or off, so if the mirrors don't fold on locking it's not proof positive that you don't have folding mirrors. Easiest way to check for sure is as Lance says, hold both mirror buttons down at the same time and see what does (or doesn't) happen.
I understand that folding mirrors is/was not standard on most NAS cars, so many of them don't have it.

Double locking is a myth for the F-Type. There is nothing written anywhere in the owners manual or shop manual regarding double locking (at least on the 2016). Pushing the lock button a second time merely flashes the lights (and sounds the horn if activated) to confirm it's locked. Note: the hazard button light stays on just as long regardless of how many times you lock the car. Double locking will not put it into sleep mode (for inControl Remote). That's a fixed 4 day timeframe whether you double lock or not.

Interesting.

Here's what my Owner's Manual says:

"Note: Double locking secures the vehicle and prevents the doors and the Luggage compartment from being opened from outside of the vehicle. The doors cannot be unlocked and opened from inside the vehicle. It also
activates the Full alarm system. See 17, FULL ALARM."

Mine is a late 2014 build MY2015.

Maybe this changed for MY2016?

It must have. I just went back to my owner's manual to confirm. Zero mention of double locking. Another esoteric difference between the model years.

Too bad there's not a way to replace the "honk" with a nice modern "chirp."

Double locking is also known as dead locking, and has not been fitted to North American spec Jags for at least 15 years, but the rest of the world cars have it.

It's a pain in the backside and I've disabled it on my cars, because if the lock fails when it's deadlocked, the only way to get the door open is by breaking the lock.
