Others feel free to chime in!
Brembo released a GT brake kit for the F-TYPE. They list everything above the base F-TYPE as being applicable. For the life of me I can't figure out why it won't work on the base. The OEM part numbers from the hub, steering knuckles, brake master cylinder, etc are the same across the board from the base to the "R"....unless the OEM calipers from the "S" and above are radial mount vs axel mount. But I can't see JLR doing tooling for one trim line for something mundane as caliper mounts. I was considering a "S" brake hardware swap hoping it will be straightforward but the fact that this Brembo kit isn't even listed for the base. has me second guess the swap! I contacted Brembo's North America distributor and they weren't sure either/ Thoughts? Am I missing something?

The mounting points for the base brakes (355 mm front and 326 mm rear) are exactly the same as those for the bigger brakes (380 mm front and 376 mm rear).
I know for sure for the rear brakes coz I personally swapped out the OEM 326 mm brakes for 376 mm.
For the front brakes I know of at least three XF owners who have swapped out the 355 mm for 380 mm with zero problems, and as the 355 and 380 mm brakes on the F-Type are identical to those on the XF I can't see how the F-Type mounting points would be any different.
I suspect the non-listing for the base is purely due to the OEM base wheel sizes - 18" - which will not fit over these brakes or even the Jag 380 mm front brakes. F-Type S front brakes are the 380 mm ones so the S comes with 19" wheels as OEM which fit over the 380 mm brakes and of course all 20" OEM F-Type wheels fit over.
The only risk for an F-Type S is that these Brembo front brakes might be a tad too big if you are running OEM 19" wheels rather than 20" wheels.

I have the 380mm brakes and 19" Centrifuge wheels. My estimate is that there is about 8mm of total clearance between the barrel of the rim and caliper. There's no way 405mm brakes would fit in those wheels, at least not if you wanted calipers too :/

A rough/quick measure of my front wheels and brakes (20" Blades and 380 mm brake rotors) shows about 40 mm clearance between the edge of the rotor and the barrel of the wheel and about 20 mm clearance between the edge of the brake caliper and the barrel of the wheel.
So with the same wheels and probably all 20" OEM F-Type wheels the Brembo kit should fit with room to spare, especially as the Brembo calipers look to be a lot "thinner" than the massive OEM 380 mm calipers.

Its not uncommon for cars to have Brembo only on the front. Keep in mind; in general most of the braking is done by the fronts anyways. On Range Rovers, I believe only the fronts are Brembos and the rears are generic calipers paint matched.

Oh yeah, I agree and understand. Riding motorcycles my whole life, I'm familiar with braking. But the rears are so small already and the solid Brembos look huge. I'd like to get a look like the Carbon Ceramic brake setup.
