Default Auto Climate Control Heat

Hello, all!

I recently got a pre-owned 2015 F-Type R. With the cooler weather coming, I’ve been starting to use the heat a bit more in the car.

I’ve noticed when I have the climate control on “Auto” and the temperature set to “High,” the direction of the heat defaults to foot level and heat doesn’t blow out of any other vents.

Is this normal? Thanks!

Yep.
The JLR designers/engineers in their wisdom decided that high speed hot air on the driver's face would be a no-no as this would supposedly make the driver drowsy.
The solution is to hit the Auto button and turn it off, then hit the Climate button and select the vents you want.

But, why do you set it at HIGH? This is an automatic thermostatic system…if you set it to the temperature you want the cabin to be, say 75 degrees F, it will put out heat until it reaches that temperature. Setting the system to HIGH will not make it reach 75 degrees any faster. Setting a comfortable temperature will allow the system to reach and maintain that temperature instead of turning the cabin into a sauna.

I may have misunderstood your comment about setting the heat to HIGH…? Or did you mean just the fan speed?

same problem with my wife: heater on "high" and fan on "high". She thinks it´s heating up faster. Me: "Auto" that´s it.

Hot air rises, so Jaguar decided there's no point heating the roof lining! In my coupe under normal circumstances, the centre vent only rises to blow cool air, unless I jump through hoops to get hot air out of it. That's my monitor to tell me when spring is on the way!
