I used an open carrier for the f-type and there were no issues. The driver was a “car guy” and was careful. I had another car delivered open as well without issue and funny enough, when I worked for VW, we used Waggoner closed trailers and had numerous cars with door scratches and dings (maybe port damage and maybe not). Some times it’s the carrier, or road damage, or negligence. Either way, closed trailer is no guarantee of perfection. If you have a muppet loading an unloading, something bad is going to happen.

We had an open car hauler in front of our dealership once (right off the road parked parallel to the street) unloading cars, the bottom ramp was down and a guy driving a pickup down the street got distracted drove off the road and right into the bottom of the trailer. Damaged the remaining car on the trailer and his truck but how he didn’t drive into the supports of the trailer and kill himself I’ll never know. Some very good/bad luck at the same time. That said, that last car on the trailer was essentially safe at its destination, I don’t think anyone would have thought about someone driving up the ramp.
