The OBD port is okay, but the Jag is sensitive to how it's disconnected. I've never had an issue when my independent uses the port (though I was nervous the first time!)

After our F's first annual state inspection, I went into the garage more often than usual to make sure the warning triangle on the dash was off.

Normally, I go out there only to admire the looks...

I thought I was using OBDII correctly. Attached with ignition off, checked, ignition off, un-attach. Not correct??
Also, I had installed one of the remote read units. Sends info to smart phone. Not Good??

Sorry, I've seen & been using the battery's positive & negative poles in the engine, but haven't really seen the actual battery itself.
Can someone please walk me thru, or pics of where the actual battery is, how/where the actual steps/location of either the positive or negative connections where I need to physically disconnect?
Thanks,

The battery's in the trunk/boot on the left hand side as you look in, under a removable lid (that's a pain to remove in mine!). Once the lid's off you'll see the terminals. Mine's a 2018, so I'm not sure if yours will be the same or have the two battery stop start system. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon to give a definitive answer.

The primary battery on all model years is located in the exact same spot. After I discovered the reset issue within the first few weeks of ownership, I always routinely reset the battery module every time the obd port is accessed . I have never had a battery drain issue since. Have left the car parked occasionally for several weeks at a time. Have never used a battery maintainer.

Whenever I reset the Batt.on my XK8, there are several things that require a reset(Windows, etc). Does the FType have any similar reset requirements?

Not in my experience - a hard reset of the battery (disconnecting for 30 seconds) did not affect any of my setting on reconnection.

Auto Windows MIGHT require a reset after the battery is disconnected.

Some folks (like @Unhingd ) lead charmed lives, and he never has to do this.

I do indeed lead a charmed life. However, when I do the reset, I have to reset my preferred center display options and do have to do the window reset about half the time.

I finally got my FType out of my garage, on a truck, and delivered to the local Jag dealer. Process involved manually releasing the transmission(Lever in consol), pushing out of garage, aand loading on truck(very carefully). Now to see if dealer can find drain-down problem.

I bet he can't since the flat battery will have reset all the modules. But maybe one's gone bad, fingers crossed for a proper resolution!
