Bad Speaker not covered under Warranty?

Brought my 17 R convertible into Dealer for my 4th annual service. Told service advisor the annoying right door speaker rattle/buzz when cranked up to mid level volume. Music sounds ok, but male announcer's voice at mid volume level creates a buzzing/rattling distortion sound. Very annoying.
Advisor says it's a trim part & since speaker's not blown, it's not covered under warranty. Says it'll cost over $400 for them to open up door panel to check it out.
Doesn't sound right to me.
Any advice...?
Thanks,
