The F-type has a ”low battery” warning.
It’s a 2016 R coupe.
I charged the XJ with the same battery charger with no issues in the same way as I tried with the F-type. On the F-type it didn’t work. It won’t charge.
I connected the minus cable to various different places but nothing happened. I haven't connected it to the minus pole, the battery manual says not to.
What am I doing wrong? Should I instead be using ring terminals?

That battery tie down you have the negative connect too is painted and probably isn't making a connection. Pull up the carpeted bin to the right of the battery and connect it to a ground there, NOT one of the many RED positives under that bin. Or you really should just hook the battery charger up to the terminals under the hood. The positive is covered with a red cap and the negative is a non painted post in the vicinity.
That black enamel coating makes it perfectly insulated.
Jaguar are paranoid about direct connections to the battery for charging. Here's the recommended connection points for ground (BK) and positive (RD):
If you are using a CTEK, their extension lead with ring terminals on one end and a CTEK quick connector on the other makes it convenient and easily accessible without having to remove the battery cover trim each time.

Thank you. So I will try connecting the negative to another part. I was wondering too, I have seen on another post that someone suggested charging as this photo below.
I fitted one of these to my car recently, basically a Jaguar branded CTEK but cant be too careful with these batteries!
Came with instructions and was a quick 30 min install.
This thread and also a how-to guide (https://howtune.com/articles/548-ins...-jaguar-f-type) both have the yellow cord on the bottom of the power distribution block.
My MY2021 yellow cord is on top, is the part I circled the place I connect a CTEK positive?
You can connect the + red lead to any of those positions along the bar. It makes no difference at all. The - black lead goes to the ground stud on the trunk floor where the battery negative is connected.
and when the CTEK is connected, do you just leave the trunk lid open?
I charge mine on my drive so close the lid. I leave the CTEK in the trunk so run a 10amp extension power cable out - the lid closes on tha cable nicely without damage (so far), just avoid the latching area.
So easy. A matter of seconds to connect and disconnect. With the "comfort extension" the only thing you see when the CTEK unit is disconnected is the waterproof connector. No need to open the trunk at all.
