Battery Power Supply Placement

Battery Power Supply Placement
Hello, I was just wondering if the connections for positive and ground for a automotive power supply/battery charger (for flashing) should be connected directly to the battery, if it’s possible to just use under the hood jump points, or if there is another location, thanks all! I’m just getting ready to do the VAP tune for the v6 so just wanted to have my stuff ready.

I believe the OP is asking where to connect the external power supply to ensure adequate juice during the ECU flash. A trickle charger that can hook to pigtails won’t be big enough. Connecting the alligator clips to the terminals under hood/bonnet (right side), is the standard operating procedure.

Never clip the negative lead to the negative battery terminal, always clip/attach it to an earth (ground) instead.
Also I have flashed my car with the VAP tool six times now and every time I used my 15 amp battery maintainer hooked up via the pigtail leads to the charging points under the hood/bonnet, and not a single problem.
However I made sure the maintainer had run through all of it's seven stages to the final stage of "maintain", and was putting out a healthy 12.6v, before I used the VAP tool.
