I installed the Duralast in mine 2 years ago. Guess I didn’t notice if there was more than one vent, think I was able to connect the hose to the same (or similar) spot as the OEM battery.

However, on the Dura last battery both sides have open vent holes. My question is do I attach the vent tube to the positive terminal and leave the negative terminal open? Should I plug the negative terminal? It doesn’t seem as though I can remove the plug from the old battery to put in the news since it appears that it was closed at the factory. Not sure if you encountered this issue with your battery change since it appears as though you have the exact same battery pictured in your description. Thanks in advance for the help!
Connect the tube to the positive side of the battery and plug the negative side. Both vent from the same place in the battery and you do not want those corrosive fumes venting into the boot.

When you buy the battery it has a red plastic cover over the +be terminal to prevent an accidental short. Part of that red plastic piece is a red plastic vent hole cover. Twist it off and use it to plug the hole on the side of the battery that you don't need

My turn to revive this old thread, as I finally got around to replacing the battery in my 2016 S Coupe.

In case it helps someone in the future, the notes I would add are:
  • Some instructions say you don’t have to remove the tie down rod entirely, that you can unscrew one end and just swing it out of the way. I found this very much not the case, and my main challenge with this replacement was maneuvering the battery out.
  • The negative cable had two screws at the battery end. I was trying to unscrew the wrong one and wondering why it wouldn’t budge. You want the smaller screw. It was easier for me to first unscrew the other end of that cable (where it connected to ground), maneuver the battery to get room, and then unscrew and remove the battery side of the cable.
  • My powered hatch made an error beep after I tried closing via the button, after I reconnected the battery. I had to manually push it closed, and then it worked afterwards.
  • I didn’t have to reset the auto windows on my car, for whatever reason. Clock was fine too. Had to set the date.

Would anyone know the specs for a 2020 F-Type? I ask because none of the online battery shops seem to bring up a match for my specific config (2020 F-Type, 2.0L, Coupe).

I purchased this car 2 weeks ago and it has a low-battery warning. Have tried charging it but no luck. The car still has 6 months of warranty left, but JLR won't cover it since the previous owner already changed the battery. The car only has 20,000 miles on it so I'm guessing it has low battery due to sitting unused for most of its life, but are there any electrical issues I should get the dealership to check that could be causing these issues?

replaced battery on a 2020? Po must have done something inappropriate. One common issue is obd2 port draining the battery, consecutively if unaddressed.

Not sure if they use the same battery as the older cars, but have anyone mentioned Costco interstate battery?

i can’t vouch for the longevity yet but $216(core charge and NY tax included) with 3 year warranty circa 2023 was a no brainier.

Yep, I’ve read various threads here regarding the OBDII issue. I’ll take a closer look.

The problem with Interstate/Costco is that their battery finder doesn’t show any matches for the car and MY, hence the questions.

Their selection is quite comprehensive, i didn’t bother checking online and just popped in there and provided my vin, once confirmed i verified the size code on the battery, they were right there on the shelf next to the counter.

If you want to be extra cautious and have no original battery to verify against, I’d give your local dealer a call or visit.

Just replaced my 11 year old OEM last week. Price for an Interstate was $170 at COSTCO. The entire case was identical, including the vent placement.
The warranty was 3 year prorated, not the 3 year replacement.

Good catch on the warranty, good enough either way and hopefully no need for it, it’s not a hard job, just really really heavy and in an awkward corner.

Autozone doesn’t appear to have any info for the 2020 2.0 either. You could pop the trunk liner out to see what’s marked on the top of the battery. I think it’s very likely it’s the same size as the rest of the F-types.

If you think that's awkward, try the XKR!

Let me take a wild guess, behind the rear seats?

Yep, as far into the trunk as it can go! For back protection, you have to climb in to fit it, and it's still not easy.

Ha, i can imagine the pain! I thought of buying a crane just to lift the battery into the f type, might need a robotic arm for the xkr ;p

For a car as new as yours, this is the most likely culprit. It happened to me twice, both at the dealer. You'd think they'd know, but they are the same people the continually overfilled my oil,so...
