Default the beating heart

Trivial question, but I'm curious. Sometimes the start/stop button pulses (throbs?) before startup, and sometimes not. Is there a pattern, a logic to this, or is it just a question of the car's moods?

Nope. Beats every time. Well until you start the car of course.

Are you sure you're just not noticing? I wasn't even aware of it for the first 6 months of ownership until someone mentioned it here. The backlight on the button is very dim, and you really can't see the "beat" unless it's fairly dark.

If mine stopped, it wouldn't exactly break my heart.

The heart will only beat if the car has imprinted on you. Spend more time with it.

You have to look real closely,I didn't know of this feature until it was pointed out on this forum...car should be in the dark.

2016 R AWD and mine does not "Beat" It light's up when I get in the car and step on the brake, but it simply stays lit. there is no "beat" to it.

That's really strange... We both even have 2016 MY cars. Is it configurable by JLR? It's ridiculous that it's on my S but not your R. I find it to be a nice, if superfluous, touch.

Try it when it's dark. Some may be brighter than others if there is assembly variability, and maybe you're not seeing the variation with any kind of light.
