Default Bedtime!!!

Sadly, it's bedtime for my buddies.....
Washed, waxed, fuel stabilizer, battery tenders and Flatstoppers.
I hope this winter isn't as bad as last year......

I feel for you, but my compliments on the very well-preserved 08 Shelby Mustang GT500. That's a very fun, old-school toy.

Thanks! Yes it's a very fun car as well. It has 10,600 km on it. I have 2200 km on the F-Type in 2 months

Nice! My question is: if storing for the winter - in my state of Maine - are "flat stoppers" really necessary? I checked prices (on Amazon) and they're not cheap (telling you something you already know).

Thanks!

You can always jack the car up if you like Rick. This is the first time I've used them. I'm always nervous of damaging the cars while I'm putting them on jack stands so this was my alternative. Jack stands are way less money.
The Flatstoppers were really easy to use. Just drive on......

More power to you - and I love the way you've put your cars to bed - but from what I've read and what little I know, flat spotting tires after any winter (without any aids) shouldnt pose any problems at all.

Oh, yes: stunning blue by the way!!!

Thanks on the blue!! I loved it as soon as I saw it.
One thing you might try if you are concerned about the flat spots is to get a piece of the blue foam from your local lumberyard. Just cut 4 pieces and drive on them. They won't be re-usable though. I've done that in the past

I don't know how you northerners do it, hibernate your cars (like we do our desert tortoise) for half the year. I want to drive the cars I love everyday and have been fortunate to have lived in Southern California my whole life. I drive my XKR convertible with the top down about 360 days per year as we get rain a few days a year. This week in the San Fernando Valley part of L.A., we finally have some cooler weather (mid-70's). Most of last week was still in the 90's. You guys have real willpower!

If you lived in the north you'd understand that the cars are lousy in the snow and they'd be ruined in no time. I guess we're just used to it.

Also it would look weird if all of your neighbors are freezing, wearing 3 layers, shoveling snow, and you vroom around in sun glasses and a t-shirt in your snow-chain-tire F-Type with rock music playing like it's summer.

That blue was on the convertible I test drove 4 or 5 months ago - owned by my wife's friend (who owns a Mazda dealership) - which I instantly fell in love with; both the car and the color (and, really...what's not to love?).

Fast forward 4 months and next thing I know I'm falling in deep mad lust about the Stratus Gray coupe parked in my local Jaguar dealer - further complicated by test driving that - and my trying to put a deal together before the onset of winter. Which I did.

So...I can thank (or blame) my wife's friend for my recent obsession.

Ya I was stupid enough to take a test drive in an R. I couldn't believe how fast it was and I'm used to the Super Snake. I asked my wife if I was crazy and said, "get it, you deserve it". The rest is history

Looks great! What battery tender did you use? I'm about to put my F Type away as well...

I'm planning to order the CTEK 7002:

While the flat stoppers are nice, I don't think they are really necessary. With the soft compound tires, the flat spots will go away once they are reheated.

1) I think we can all agree that this new F-Type, in all configurations - whether convert or coupe - is intoxicating! (in all the best ways).

2) And I can agree that you and I are damn lucky to have such encouraging and supportive wives! Mine not only encouraging me to get the car but truly embracing and enjoying same. (She's even been wringing out her BMW 325xi 6-speed manual wagon (with sport suspension) more and more since driving with me in the F-Type. Funny really). Sounds like we definitely married up! Then again I've rarely met a man who didn't).

Golf hero, the Ctek units are great. I have one on the boat you see in the background. The one on my car is from weather tech but I'm about 99% sure it's made by Ctek. The plugs are interchangeable.
