Default Best way to smoothe or eliminate minor leather scratches?

Hello all,
Trying to treat/eliminate a few minor leather scuffs and scratches around door handle, center console. Interior is red. Can you point me to a previous post that addressed this issue or share your suggestions? New at this, not sure I can find a product that will « buff those out »?

Once the leather surface is scratched, it is scratched (!). But using a GOOD leather conditioner (one which does not contain silicones, and that is important) will keep the leather surface coating soft and pliable and this in itself tends to mitigate the effect of abrasion - and it also tends to make existing abrasions less prominent.

Those who use conditioners regularly (and all owners of cars with leather interiors should) have their favourites. Over decades of ownership and restoration of Jaguars my "go to" favourites have now settled to two, both of which work brilliantly on the F-Type leather: AutoGlym Leather Balm and Lexol Leather Conditioner in that order.
the essential thing is that there be no silicones in the conditioner.

If the scratching has penetrated the colour coat then you can use any one of a number of dye preparations which you can find on-line. Most of the original Jaguar colours are available ready mixed but the red might need to be custom-mixed.

Hello sov211,
Thank you so much for your detailed and helpful response! Color coat has indeed been penetrated on the handles so I will be looking for an "F-Type red" dye :-)

I like Lexol, but I recently discovered Sphir Renovateur that is even better.

Emmanuel: your leather colour should be trim CJA (check on the label in the door opening) and the colour is Red Zone...you can just google "Jaguar Leather Dye" -and that will bring up a number of suppliers; some will have this colour ready mixed, others will not. These dyes are generally water-based polymer formulas (and that is the colourant used on Jaguar leather originally).

Seat Doctors: https://www.seatdoctors.com
In particular Red Zone on this page: https://www.seatdoctors.com/jaguar-l...-f-leather-dye
After wasting several weeks a couple of years ago in a vain search for the correct leather dye for my red seats, I found Seat Doctors.
Perfect colour match to my red seats, reasonably cheap, great quality, lasts for ages and a doddle to use, what's not to like!

OzXFR,
Thank you for the link.
I am curious (different subject), how did you disable the rear spoiler on your F-Type?

Sov21l said it quite well. Mention of the decades of Jaguar ownership reminded me of the original product I used in the early days, "Hide Food" was a creme formulated for Jaguar seat leathers. I used it for a long time, only to later discover that I could no longer find it in the Jaguar Parts department. It was replaced by "Leather Conditioner" and the clerk told me that the legal beagles required the name change because allegedly folks were eating the stuff. Dopes.

I remember Hide Food! I had thought it had just been discontinued. That was some good stuff. I've been a regular consumer of Lexol for quite a while now. Perhaps I'll look into Sphir Renovateur as SinF recommended.
