Different rims (I think) than mine, but gotta love the popup headlights. I got mine when my F was in the body shop and worried that every day in a rental Chevy Lumina would kill a little more of my soul. My plan was to turn it into a track toy after that, but with a helmet on I can't even sit fully upright. Oh well. It's fun, but I should find it a new home. I just don't drive it. Two cars, both with only two seats and minimal cargo capacity? Then again, it's been a log time since anyone accused me of being sensible.

I echo your sentiments. The AMG has a midget racer look to it in my opinion; the body is not proportional, very awkward looking.

In its pure form, it is a stunner. Not F-Type stunning, but still stop traffic good looking. I vividly remember the first time I saw one in the wild. I was in Yountville and it was parked by what is now Redd Wood. It made that kind of an impression on me.
Of course, I remember the first time I saw an F-Type, too. I actually took a picture of it at a red light.

If just speaking looks -
Exterior - F-Type wins. Especially the rear. The FT just looks classier and not like it is trying too hard. Probably why I passed on the C8. The GT is similar to a 'look at me' Viper if that makes sense.
Interior - GT wins. LOVE the over the top but cool roomy interior with all the pods/gauges. Very Batmobile. Love both cars and I've never been locked into one make of cars.
The only interior I like better is the Huracan. Yes, I am eight years old.

I'm not mad at the GT.
I think the F-Type, along with the E-Type are some of the most beautiful objects ever designed by man. I don't think I'd say that about the Merc, but I also haven't spent any physical time with it, so who knows.
I do know I have a type though... my last car was also a GT in the original sense: sports car that they put a roof on, but an itty bitty one:

I do think the F-Type is far prettier. That being said, the AMG is far better built across the board. (Suspension, chassis, interior fit and finish, etc.) If fact, I can't think of one area where the F-Type is of higher quality than the AMG. Can anyone else? Don't get me wrong, I adore the F-Type. But if it's an 8/10 car, the AMG is a 9/10 car.

wheels
They're actually a bit hard to compare.
All F-Types, I4, V6, and V8 are great GT cars. The AMG GT/S is a bit more "hardcore". The chassis is stiffer, the ride is harder, the transmission is a true DCT, and lastly, the interior is of much higher quality. Additionally, AMG uses true Brembo six pot front, four pot rear calipers with floating discs.
If the Jaguar F-Type is a 7/10 car, the AMG GT is 8.5/10 in terms of best of breed parts, technology, and build quality.
Looks are obviously subjective so no one is either right or wrong there.

Love those wheels! What brand are they? thanks

Great to see a Z3 Coupe in the mix.
Ive had a 2000 MCoupe since Jan 2005 in magnificent Evergreen ( described by some as undercoat with clearcoat added).
Stopped driving it when I got my FTypeR feb ‘16....but reactivated it this aug to do 3 track days at Mt Tremblant when the FType was disabled ( needed a front hub...the hub arrived but no one use bolts for 9 days !).
the little Z3 was magic. So pleased I didn’t sell it....mind you it’s stuffed back in the garage, hopefully not for a further 3 yrs.
not really sure why I thought this merits a post...but here it is.

Exactly my thought.....not to be a snob, but I don't care if the Miata was 300HP and $20k - yeah it will get you to work, but I would feel compelled to wear a disguise and I don't the have extra time in the morning for that.

I miss the directness of the handling. I never would have called it light before owning the Jag but... man.
