Default black out tailpipes?

Hello, does anyone else here feel that the tailpipes on the f-type coupe flair out too much? It's the same style as the tailpipes on the Corvette. The flaired style of the tailpipes matches the flaired style of the Corvette but the f-type coupe (especially the rear) is low profile and would look better with low profile tailpipes. Has anyone else here made this observation?

So I wondering - is it possible to "black out" the *inside* of the tailpipes? I'm thinking this would have a similar style to a black wheel with a machined face or at least look more like a standard tailpipe at a glance.

Based on some googling, it looks like there's a market for blacked out exhaust tips. I think that may be my best bet (keep it simple). After all, my car will have the "black pack" package as well as black wheels so totally blacked out tailpipes may actually be the best match for my car. The tailpipes are so big and flared that blacking them out may put them in perfect proportion with the car.

Just drive it a few miles, the carbon soot gradually blacks them out, at least on the bottom half.

I put black tips on my XKR and they turned out nicely. If you took the time you likely could get the tips powder coated to give you a similar effect.

Looks like there's a market for aftermarket black tailpipes. For example, this 911:

and this M3:

I'm starting to dig the look. Makes sense for a blacked out car and should look like a giant shotgun barrel on the base f-type

Agreed. I think this is more true of the v6 than the v8 models. The centered and flared tailpipe on the v6 makes the back end look imbalanced. On the v8 the twin pipes give the car a decent stance from the rear.

Let us know if you find a good solution. How much would swapping out the tips affect the exhaust sound?

Agreed - the quad exhaust tips on the v8 look great. Good point about different exhaust tips potentially impacting the exhaust note. Worst case would be to get the stock exhaust tips refinished in satin black but would prefer to switch out the flared exhaust tips for cylindrical ones instead. I have other items on my f-type todo list before doing too much research on this one but would like to get feedback from others on this.

another reason to get black exhaust tips is to set yourself apart from the guy who drives this car:
