Still not a fan of the plastic-dip. The black looks great on the firesand but Id prefer a gloss finish. fyi you can get exact replica leapers on eBay and they ship fast (1week):

I think you can. A lot of people on the M5 board have painted badges and they seem durable. I assume they strip the chrome first or prep the surface in some way. IND-Distribution makes the painted badges.

didn't want to hijack the other thread any more than I already did, so resurrecting this old thread about badges...so after removing the "-TYPE" I was left with the F and the R, but the chrome plastic always have annoyed me so finally decided to white them (leaper was already white). Quality on the "R" isn't great, might have to redo it soon.

Not sure if there is a gloss black, but the same plasti dip company sells a clear glossifier. I think that's how you would do the gloss black: black first, then glossifier. Yup, you can just leave the badges on. Coats...I think it just depends on your patience...I did 3-4, but the more the coasts the easier to feel. The main thing is when you peel you want a nice clean peel. If it's too thin the peel isn't clean, so you might have to do it over again.
