I suspect that Stohlen's comment was just a metaphor.
Everybody thinks they're riding their beasts hard and putting them away wet. In truth, I don't care who you are, your driving privileges would be revoked it you were really punishing the car as on a race track. You're not.
I'm with Stohlen . . . a lot of people waste a lot of money for no good reason.

I found the following from Castrol's website.
http://oilselector.castrol.com/c/uk/...SC-%282014-%29
It says refer to dealer.
If you do a google search you'll see all over that JLR endorses Castrol Edge "Professional."
https://www.jaguar.com/about-jaguar/castrol.html
Personally, I've never worn an engine out / had any catastrophic problems due to incorrect oil usage and find that it would be hard to pin it down to not using a specific oil.
I suppose next oil change I'll get will be 7,500 miles later and see what the TBN is on it.
Is it pointless to do the TBN test on it without having a virgin oil sample to compare to?
All that garbage aside, it would be nice not having to spend $200.00 for an oil change so often.

The recommended change interval for the F-Type is one year or 16,000 miles. I typically run about 15K a year, and I have never gone that far between oil changes.
This is the first car I've owned that did specify a break-in procedure, but did not specify a break-in service. My plan at this point is to change the oil soon, then monitor it over the year, perhaps every 5K miles. I want to get a feel for how heavily the oil gets stressed.

FWIW, my father used to have a Ford F350 Turbo Diesel that he towed a rather large travel trailer around the country. He used nothing but Amsoil, and never changed oil until he was told it was time by Blackstone when he got got his sample results back. I remember there were times he was over 20,000 miles before he changed. (Although he did change the filters and top off with fresh oil in between changes)
