Default Blocked Drains??

Afternoon all,

Hope everyone is keeping safe.

With more time on my hands than normal, I decided to give the car a wash. But like last time, I'm getting a build-up of water at the left hand corner behind the hood. Right hand side is fine. It does eventually drain away after 2 or 3 minutes. Any ideas why?

There is a drainage port that is plugged. Not having a vert, I can't provide further guidance, but other vert owners here have been through this. Lest any of our murican friends be confused, "hood" is referring to the soft-top, not the bonnet.

Mine does this on both sides when I wash it. My drying towel sops it up, and I haven’t worried about that. It’s always done that, IIRC.

Now you’re going to make me look at mine.

Odd mine only does it at one side which is what worries me more...

Have you checked the boot/trunk? I've seen posts where folks have discovered a swimming pool in there.

Yeah that was the first thing I checked after having similar problems with my BMW Z4 E89 where the electrics were water damaged. Thankfully not only is it dry, but no sign of any water damage\corrosion.

Mine drains fast on both sides so its not for lack of trying.

My memory is that the roof is tight against a seal, trapping the water. I think if I push on it, the water drains (somewhere). I haven’t paid attention to it in a while, but I will when we have more washing weather. 3” of snow on Mon won’t help...

The hood when correctly adjusted is designed to exert around 1mm compression force to the rubber seal.

No water will therfore drain. Once the car is moved it should run forward to the lower point at the rear of the door glass where it can drain away.
