Default Bluetooth phone connection/compatibility issue.

My 2014 F-Type connected to my Motorola Moto X 2nd gen. smart phone when I bought it in early 2017. The phone was 4G but I don't know which generation bluetooth it had. My phone had gone kaput several years ago (pre-covid) wherein here comes the problem. In searching for a new phone I'm having trouble finding any phone models on Jaguar's compatibility list that are presently being offered by any of the phone carriers. Has bluetooth changed making the new smart phone models incompatible with my 2014 F-Type info-system? Or, is their (Jaguar's) list of compatible phones not up to date? Or, does each carrier use their own model name and number on common phones? I'm not young any more and not a techno wiz so please bear with me. How do I find a (new) compatible smart phone to link up with my car?

my understanding is that the phone should be backwards compatible with your car so it shouldn't matter which one you get. As it is the bluetooth connection that matters is doesnt matter if your phone is 4g or 5g.
i think the problems people have are the other way round eg new car with the latest bluetooth module and an old phone . Don't hold me to it though.

I have a Fold 3, 2016 car. The bluetooth had terrible dropouts and drove me mental until I had the car software updated. Our IT guy reckoned that would be because the bluetooth version run in the car was probably 5 versions behind that of the phone (version 5.3).

I would suggest that you see whether you can get the bluetooth version in the car updated first, dont choose your phone until you are sure.

But I can vouch for the fold 3, it is a fantastic phone.

It is my understanding that the bluetooth software in the 2014 F-Type can't be updated. The phone software may be able to be updated to match the car's. Jaguar says the list of compatible phones are updated periodically. I would say it's been a few years. I may try to
link the Samsung S10. It isn't the latest model from Samsung, however, if it doesn't work it won't be quite as expensive of a mistake. The Galaxy S10 listed on Jaguar's list is the international model. First try and find one then try to find a carrier that it's compatible with.
Just a note, my friend has a lower end Chevrolet model with bluetooth and everything links with it. Why do upscale car manufacturers have to overcomplicate everything?
